This is the first time in my life that I have faced discrimination based on my nationality (Irish) you hear about it in the past but never thought I’d see it in this day and age. I was out with a group of people mostly American, they let everyone in until they looked at my I-D and suddenly stopped me stating “I wasn’t getting in because I didn’t have a collar on” but neither did anyone else in the group and I wouldn’t mind but I was better dressed than most of them wearing casual but dressy attire. I thought it was odd and questioned the bouncer stating that it wasn’t until you looked at my I-D that you suddenly had a problem- passing it back and forth to the other bouncer which didn’t happen to anyone else whispering to each other then telling me I wasn’t getting in. I then called the bouncer out on it and politely asked was it because of my I-D and that I was Irish, the bouncer replied “YES it is!” when I took my phone out to record him he wouldn’t repeat what he just said but there was plenty of witnesses. I have never felt more humiliated and degraded in all my life, I would humbly ask all locals and foreign peoples to boycott this place and use your money in another establishment that respects its guests and doesn’t judge people based on their nationality, colour of skin and...
Read moreWe went there to watch AWOLNATION concert on Saturday night. on a positive side the concert was great. Band did a good job, but it's not the band I'm reviewing... :)
I'm not sure how is there on a regular weekend, however this time it was so unbelievably hot on a dance floor. Everybody were completely wet. There was no ventilation and on a dance floor it was maybe 30-35 degrees. I was very happy when band finished playing, because I could finally leave (even if the band did an awesome job). The place is obviously not suited for such an event.
During the concert my wife went to buy some drinks (because it was so hot). There were only few customers near the bar (as everybody watched the concert), however it took really long time for barkeeper to notice her. Even when she ordered the drinks the barkeeper was so painfully slow. Before he gave her her order he drank a shot with other barkeeper and spoke to him about something for a few minutes. It would be completely fine if he would be moving faster as my wife was so eager to get back to watch the concert.
They didn't have any tap beer, only 0.3 bottles for like 6 euros. Jackie-coke (200 ml) with 4cl of JIM BEAM were priced 11 euros. So the prices were a bit too high I suppose.
I wouldn't go to Gibson anymore and also wouldn't...
Read moreThis is the second time I’m experiencing racism at Gibson, no matter the fact that I along with a group of friends had reservations! So yesterday was one of these day, I long with other friends ( mind you we are blacks). Normally, I usually go there Thursdays mostly alone, after work for the Urban Club Band,
So, we were informed that we can’t be allowed in for several reasons one is because we didn’t carry the passport with the reservation name, but then, I showed them my national id card hard copy and a soft copy of my passport instead, then she mentioned she can’t let me in for other several reasons, we all know what this is about anyways. so I kept on asking for reasons and the lady at the reservation entry didn’t say a thing. Anyways I moved to the other side to speak to another person and all he told me was, “we get to choose who can be our customers who shouldn’t be” in a raised voice you can tell he was shouting at me!!!!
I’m a lady and I hate causing a scene, so asked him not to raise his voice on me, all he told me was, “you should be grateful I’m speaking to you in English, so you feel like I’m shouting at you princess, (in a sarcastic way)”
I walked away!
Hence I would not recommend this club if you are a foreigner like me trying to have fun here, there are better...
