Summary: If you’re looking for authentic Thai cuisine, you’ve come to the wrong place. Kokumy is just another one of those restaurants in the city that focuses solely on Instagrammability. The menu is a mystery, and the prices are exorbitant for what you receive. You can't simply order 1-2 dishes; it’s not enough. The rice for the saucy main course has to be ordered separately. If you're lucky, you'll spend around €50 per person, and you’ll be left wondering what was even Thai about the food.
The service was a disaster. There were five of us, and the staff clearly struggled to keep up - in the end three people where involved to service our table. After we placed our order, chaos ensued. The dishes came out one by one, with no rhyme or reason. Some at the table hadn’t even started eating while others were already finished. We had to repeatedly mention that some dishes were missing. One server told us the kitchen was working on it. Another confirmed that items had been forgotten, and the bartender explained that some dishes were served as a first course and others as a second—something we were never informed about. He claimed the kitchen had to do it this way due to capacity issues, but there was no prior notice.
The highlight of the night was when we were charged for the wrong table. During the correction, it became clear that, in addition to a lack of service skills, basic math knowledge was also absent—despite the use of a calculator. Fried vegetables and eggplant drowned in soy sauce can be found in far more delicious alternative restaurants. Don’t be fooled by the decoration and seemingly good...
Read moreKokumy is a gem in Frankfurt that offers an unforgettable fusion Asian dining experience. My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish.
First and foremost, the food was an explosion of flavors that left our taste buds dancing with joy. We couldn't resist trying a variety of dishes, and each one was a culinary masterpiece. The Hoisin Duck Bao was a highlight, with tender duck and a perfect balance of flavors.
The Gado Gado Chicken Skewers were a treat for the senses, and the Braised Pork Belly in the Saucy Delights category was nothing short of divine. And let's not forget the Tom Yum Prawns, which were a spicy and tangy delight that we won't soon forget.
To complement our meal, we sipped on the unique fusion drinks, Jasmine Blossom and Vod kha Gai, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience.
What truly stood out, aside from the outstanding cuisine, was the ambiance and service. Kokumy's atmosphere exudes charm and warmth, making it a perfect place for a romantic evening. The service was impressively fast, ensuring that our dishes arrived promptly.
We can't wait to return to Kokumy and explore more of their delectable offerings. If you're in Frankfurt and looking for an extraordinary dining experience, Kokumy is the place to be. Highly...
Read moreWe are asian tourists so perhaps its unfair to review the authenticity of the flavours - to us it was just average.
ButWhat is great is that someone is brave enough to prepare dishes from so many different cuisines in one place, korean, japanese, thai, chinese….etc i think the fact there is so much choice on the menu is great. But the flavours are just average if we are being honest for an asian palat Some things were done very well - the ribs and the beef bulgogi - tasty eventhough the flavours were not authentic.
But the Baos, they are really not great. Soggy buns, and saucing everything with hoisin, or siracha mayo, it all started tasting the same after awhile. Also the fillings were tough and dry
Cocktails and dessert were decent tho. And value was definitely good for this sort of menu.
Keep up the good work and hope you can take this review constructively. Less hoisin and more sauces that represent the cuisine would improve things - eg ssamjang for the same ssam dish instead of hoisin and scallion and ginger (this isnt the right flavour profile)
