The Japanese waiter was only willing to flirt with the two female customers coming after us and ignoring us (we are two guys and there is another Arabic couple being also neglected by him) the whole time. After we addressed this issue to another waiter, he immediately confronted us in an extremely aggressive tone. Even he yelled at me with his lecture saying "customers are not God" theory. If you can't treat your customers equally with your best, it'd be great if you could find something else to do ASAP. You're working, not doing your shindig with your friends at workplace. He hysterically screamed at me “here is GERMANY, not Japan!!!” He even asked me where I was born. Does it matter? There should not be any difference between German customers and foreign customers. He needs to be trained to have a better understanding of the basic human rights before coming to Germany. ****** updates * I have contacted Ramen Jun International GmbH and Shumentei Headquarter (Ramen Jun’s parent company in Niigata) on this issue. The general manager Suzuki apologized and promised that they will conduct thorough investigation into this case. However, the Ramen Jun International GmbH (German company) refused to give the direct apology from that employee even though the company director promised us to do so on Saturday. Business is based on trust. No one would trust you and your business eventually if you cannot commit to your own promises till the end. To this Japanese employee, no matter where you work, it’s always the principle that you should respect your customers ( no matter where they are from) Everyone is equal, and you cannot treat guests differently in your own way. I hope he could learn this lesson and improve on his basic hospitality spirit so that no other customers would be emotionally hurt or treated differently like me just because we’re not pretty white girls or unfortunately we’re not his type. As he screamed "here's Germany, not Japan" at me, please learn the basic of human rights and equality, which are common value accepted in Germany. Customers might not be God for you, but shall not be yelled at...
Read moreThis place is amazing, we visited its opening some years ago at a local indie movie festival and wanted to go for that long, but then 2020 happened and we finally made it now. It was worth the wait, and even if I didn't get to order in my barely functional Gaijin Japanese this time, cause ordering two bowls of miso ramen is surprisingly easy to say, we still got some of the best ramen I've ever had. The place is packed so make sure you make a reservation through their website. The prices might seem a bit high, but the portions are generous. Everything is made there, miso, noodles and broth, which they boil for two days to reach that signature creamy consistency, that one can never get from a pack of dried broth. The staff is tri-lingual, speaking German, English and of course Japanese. The service was a bit slower than expected, but like I mentioned the place was packed. Even though ramen is considered street food, these people have turned it into an art form and there is no pressure to scoff down your soup. Take your time and savor it, just don't let it get cold. There are also small salads, appetizers like gyoza and karaage chicken and for people who don't eat pork or are vegan, there is a vegetarian option of ramen. I cannot recommend this place enough, just go at any time and enjoy some ramen. Flying Spaghetti Monster...
Read moreI always visit this shop when I come by on a business trip. Totally love the cheese ramen, always eat it, always tastes great. What's not so great is the service. Personnel seems sometimes some where else in their heads...like I order a sakura cocktail and I get a cola, I tell the staff I didn't order a cola and they nod and leave me with that cola till I ask another one of the staff to get me the right drink I ordered 10 minutes ago. And btw don't ever let them sit you on the table last corner left, horrible, always people coming and going to the toilet and the kitchen entry behind you while you eating. And I read from another user here they have annoyingly flies around sometimes, I can tell that is the truth, but don't know why they don't do anything about it. Prices and size of the meals are totally OK. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the sometimes chaotic service. That's gotta improve big time, its not that's its a big restaurant, its small and there are like 3-4 service people, so...improve...
