Dear Management team
This is my reply to your response.
Let's analyse your statements regarding the safety of guests. You claim that it is safer to offer only 75 minutes in the restaurant rather than 2 hours and more. First of all infections don't gradually happen in more than 2 hours and secondly the risk of letting more people enter the restaurant on a higher frequency is much riskier for infections. For example, instead of serving 25 people in 2.5 hours, which is a non Covid 19 situation, the restaurant with the short stay policy only lets people sit in the restaurant for half the time and therefore 50 people are able to enter the restaurant. This of course doubles the risk of an infection probabaility. Therefore, the motivation is not to protect the people but to protect the profit.
From a psychological perspective what people need is a comfortable place, which Hans Im Glück offers - a different place from home, because they are stuck in their home-office. Take my example, I get up in the morning, gorge my breakfast und start with virtual meetings in front of the computer, then I move 10 steps into the kitchen und make my lunch. After that I go back to my laptop and finish in the evening with making another steps into my kitchen. During my home-office experience all I did was sitting in front of the laptop, going to the kitchen and then to the bathroom. Can you imagine this is like a prison.
However, going to a restaurant like Hans Im Glück with the wish to become "glücklich" and then all you get is sit down, order fast, eat fast and then get out again. This is not the balance I was hoping for, especially in an isolated situation. My recommendation is to offer the customers a feeling of rest from this current isolation. I fully understand that this strategy is not economical but we have to remember long-term thinking is better than short-term profit thinking. People do not forget when people help each other in bad times. What is also unforgettable is when people are not treated as a priority and when profit is the focus. Look at the business model of Hans Im Glück. There are investors involved. The strategy is to have many branches in the DACH (Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz) region. At the end of the day it has to be a scalable business idea. Corona doesn't allow the scale effect and the best of all options is to get more customers in a shorter time into the restaurant.
Thank you for reading and this was food for thought.
This was initial message.
Today's excitement was big and we were looking forward to a nice evening in a nice place with good food. As an economist what really irritated me was the fact that we were told to leave half way through the meal. The situation with the explanation was so obvious that the staff had the order to ask people to leave after a very short time so that new people can come and eat. It smelled too much of compensating a financial loss by kicking people out and getting new people in as the place was only allowed to host 50% of the capacity because of social distancing.
My advice to management even in bad times like with Corona don't compromise on the experience of the customer because then the client becomes very critical and suddenly the place looks like a money making machine offering fast food, with small burgers and small side dishes for the above average fast food prices.
Dear Management you were able to create the illusion of a cosy and comfortable place you did everything according to the rule book but don't show your greediness because than you destroy the illusion.

Read moreI really love Hans I'm glück. I find it the best fast food line. According to my personal opinion, here I eat the best fried sweet potatoes I ever tried, and also the hamburgers and the salad are very tasty. The recepies are original and you have everiting: from flesh to vegan choices. The salads are fresh, prepared with care: they are not the usual four leaves of lattuces, there are different tipes of salads, seeds, sauces and also meat and cheese. The portions are generous and worth the price of the place. Also the cocktails are good. Even if there's always a lot of people, food and drinks never loose their quality, thing that sometimes happens when a place is fool and it becomes difficult to keep pace with the orders. The service 8s quite fast and I have never met a rude or annoied/annoying waiter/tress. People is always smiling and polite also when they are stressed. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and if you can find a quite corner, also romantic. All the restaurant I visited, look the same, but there's attention for the details. Yeah, as you can read I really like the place and it is perfect for an informal night with friends or...
