THE VIEW — Restaurant in Frankfurt

The refurbished restaurant is really pretty and the selection of dishes is very creative, everyone can find something there. Furthermore the view from up there is incredible but anyhow, the service was unsatisfactory. It started at the entrance where no one greeted us, no welcome, nothing. Besides not a single member of the service staff was smiling or explaining how things work now with the new pay cards they have established, it can be difficult for people who were never there before to figure out how this works. Now the case which upset me the most. My partner and I wanted to get the daily special, on the menu it simply said that a side salad is included, so we both took a side salad, not knowing that the side salad is given out by the kitchen, then we wanted to order the daily special and that’s when they told us that we have to pay extra for the salad we already took. We tried to ask if there is anything they could do about it and they simply said we have to pay for it no matter what and we’re really rude and misunderstanding. At last I have to say that the food is eatable for 14-16€, nothing special but that’s not what we expected anyhow.

This is the place I'll always bring people who are visiting Frankfurt to. It is not because of the food, which by the way is not bad but not exciting. The main attraction is the beautiful panoramic view of the city from the terrace. You can see most of the landmarks such as ECB, the Dom, Henninger-Turm, the high-rises in the financial district, etc. Though you may just come for the view and are not obliged to eat or drink here. They adopt a paying card system here. When entering this floor, you will be given a plastic card which is to be used to record what you have ordered at the few self-service eateries. You pay at the check out counter when leaving the place. It may be awkward to return an unused card though you have every right to do so. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER To enter th Gallery restaurant we were forced to take one card by person, including for your 10y old kid in spite of us trying to decline. Five minutes after we arrived, while we were queuing for a hot chocolate, one guy takes it from my daughter hand and walks out. By the time the manager comes, the guy is gone and the manager explains that we have to pay 50€ for the ‘lost’ card, the same black card they claimed « given for the kids with no possibility to pay for food or drinks», that it is in fact like a credit card, it is written on the card (no it is not). Absolutely brutal, no discussion possible, completely spoiled our day. Such an attitude from the manager considering what happened is miserable. Be warned, cause nobody in...
