We went here as a first stop for the end of the year weekend. We queued outside for a few minutes, as the place was packed. One of the waitresses came out and asked us what we would like to order, so it would be ready for when we would have been able to get it (I guess). Keep in mind, we were a group of 3 people. The place is in the centre and we had to communicate using Google Translate, as we don't speak German and the girl spoke a very poor English. She calls us to get in after 5 minutes and we get one of those tables that face the wall, with high stools to sit on. The only thing is that the space was supposed to accommodate just 2 people.
Then we move to a bigger table after a few minutes. Our orders are not ready yet so we wait for them. We ordered hot chocolates and two bagels. I then asked for a glass of tap water and I got a bottle of mineral water because the waitress didn't get what I wanted. Fast forward to a few hours, my girlfriend and our friend - the two people who ordered the bagels - get sick once we arrive at our accommodation.
We, unfortunately, didn't get a good experience...
Read moreAfter spending 4 days in Hamburg, we’ve been very impressed with the quality and speed of food. Made-to-order dinners have been very quick to be served to us after ordering (10-15 minutes or less!). That all came to an end with Garden’s Table.
We ordered still water and bagel sandwiches and had to wait for 50 minutes for the sandwiches to arrive. We even asked our waitress for an update on our bagels after about 30 minutes. The bagels were certainly edible, but simple (and arguably the easiest item to prepare that we’ve ordered at any restaurant since arriving in Hamburg). Absolutely not worth the ridiculously long wait. We didn’t even order coffees!
It appeared as though other tables who arrived after us were waiting equally as long.
They made good use of their interior space and also have an outside seating garden (we sat inside) - it was quite hot on a warm summer day.
My recommendation: If you’d like a bagel, go literally anywhere else in Hamburg before you settle on...
Read moreService was painfully slow, even with not many customers.
I came on a public holiday (Whit Monday) at noon, and there were only around 3 tables of new customers waiting to be served, and the first cuppucino for one of the tables only arrived after 30min.
Due to the slow service, there was also confusion on how to order. I sat at the table for some 15min waiting to make an order, and there was some long queue of customers making take-away orders or payment for sit-in. Me and some new customers just queued and make orders/payment at the counter.
Outdoor seats are facing a main road, and is not exactly charming. Indoor space is cute and well-decorated.
I left before my food arrived (even though I had already paid at the counter) after waiting for around 40min, since I had to...
