Hans im Glück — Restaurant in Munich

The service team was warm and inviting, even though we came 45 minutes before closing. All smiles and proficient. High marks.

Now the food. I've eaten hamburgers all over the world, styles change from country to country, and culture to culture but the burger was not remotely good. I will preface that my expectations for burgers are high and food which I pay for should be equal in value to my hard earned money. It was not in this case.

The burger was too thin for the toppings and bun, there was way too much salt on the burger, and the burger was cooked to death. The toppings, which had offered promise, were drowned out by the salt. As for the sides the salad had way too much dressing and the sweet potato fries had no salt.

Please keep in mind this is my first time eating at this restaurant, and my experience of the local burger styles in Germany, at this point are limited. So I do have a bias, and I lack local knowledge about burger style. But I do know burgers and I know food, and I was severely disappointed at the quality and execution.

To give the reader perspective, in my opinion this is just a dress up fast food burger with different toppings and I feel you get a better burger from McDonald's or Burger King if that is the type of burger you are yearning for.

I walked into this place without even knowing that there are lots of "Hans im Glück" restaurants all over Germany and how can one know if the place looks that nice. Not like other franchise burger place thinking about the one with the big M or the BK location. You walk in here and it feels familiar some how. Wooden trees everywhere and if you keep looking you find other small things which make this place... SPECIAL.

When you receive the menu, the first you notice is the fairy-tale book style which so represent this location. And this continues with the food. The taste of the burger I had was great and the fries as well.

Okay, some might say that the seats are uncomfortable and tables are small, honestly speaking they are but this places is not to spend the whole night but to enjoy a good meal, one or two beers and that's it. Nothing more, nothing less, therefore it's amazing good.

You might ask why just 4 stars and not 5. The reason is easy, even if the waiters are friendly and helpful, sometimes they have weak moments where they simply oversee guest or forget to bring a menu. Nothing realy bad but here they can improve a lil bit. I was thinking about given 4,5 stars but in the end it was closer to the 4 as to the 5. But still a recommendation,...

Bei meinem letzten Besuch mit meiner Freundin am 13.01.25 wurden wir von einer äußerst desinteressierten Bedienung empfangen. Als wir einen Sitzvorschlag für einen 4er Platz nähe des Eingang äußerten wurde dieser Wunsch direkt abgelehnt weil dort nach Aussage diese Tische für "Gruppen von 6-10 Personen" vorgesehen sind. (Wir zeigten sehr deutlich auf einen 4er Platz. Bei vergangenen Besuchen wurde dieser Wunsch auch ohne jegliche Diskussion erfüllt.)

Der Platz der uns zugewiesen wurde wurde von einem Luftzug begleitet. Die Bedienung erfolgte weiter durch die selbe Personalkraft welche uns empfangen hat (eine ca 168cm große junge Dame mit Braun-Blond gefärbten Haaren und mehreren goldenen Piercings.) Es wirkte schon bevor wir uns setzten, als hätte die Bedienung ein persönliches Problem mit uns. Die Bestellung hatte von Seiten der Bedienung einen herrischen Beischwung und wirkte merkbar unamüsiert bei Aufnahme unserer Essenswünsche. Relativ zu anderen Besuchen dauerte das bringen der Getränke unverhältnismäßig lange. Auch war der Heidelbeer-Minze Eistee nicht wie üblich mit Heidelbeeren befüllt, was wir jedoch erst gegen Ende feststellten.

Während wir auf das Essen gewartet haben, haben wir die generelle Situation beobachtet. Dabei fiel uns auf wie ein älteres Paar das Restaurant mit einem Reisekoffer betreten hat. Ihnen wurde von selber Bedienung ein Sitzplatz angeboten welcher für Ihre Logistischen Bedürfnisse absolut unpassend war, woraufhin Sie sich entschieden haben Ihr Glück woanders als bei Hans zu suchen und sie verließen das Restaurant wieder. Schließlich kam unser Essen, mit welchem alles in Ordnung zu sein schien.

Als wir letztlich zahlten entschied ich mich erstmals bei Hans im Glück dagegen ein Trinkgeld anzusagen nachdem ich den Preis der Mahlzeit hörte. Daraufhin wurde mir das Kartenlesergerät hingelegt welche verschiedene Prozentsätze an Trinkgeld vorgeschlagen haben, sowie ein "Nein". Überzeugt tippte ich auf das "Nein" und bezahlte. Daraufhin fragte die Bedienung mit erwartungsvollem Ton ob es denn ein Problem bei unserem Aufenthalt gab. Nach friedvollem Abschied strebend verneinten wir dies. Daraufhin riss die Bedienung die Quittung vom Kartelesegerät ab und donnerte uns diese auf den Tisch und wandte sich in der selben Bewegung ohne ein weiteres Wort von uns ab. Somit verließen wir Hans zwar satt und auch nicht unglücklich, aber enttäuscht.

Dies spielte sich am 13.01.25 zwischen 11:40 und 13 Uhr ab. Die Bedienung ist uns zusammenfassend als kindisch und peinlich in Erinnerung geblieben.

Wir sind weiterhin überzeugt von Hans im Glück, aber sollten wir diese Bedienung ein weiteres mal als solche erblicken, werden wir das Restaurant direkt und...
