Hello I‘m Korean. I visited the restaurant around 5 o'clock.
As soon as I entered the restaurant, the manager didn't even ask me and just took me to the seat at the door. Of course, the seats were very spacious, and the rest of the guests, except me, who is Asian, were freely seated indoors and on the terrace as well.
I asked a young female manager who had a good impression, "Can I sit outside?" and I was told, "Of course," so I moved to the terrace seat right away.
That's when the male manager yelled, "Where are you going, go inside," several times overbearingly. He shouted exactly, "Where? Inside!" over and over again. Everyone around me looked at me, and I was embarrassed. I've never experienced anything like this before in Germany.
It was racism.
But hasn't Germany apologized for race issues from its past Nazi history? Does it make sense that racism is still so rampant in Germany? Is it deeply rooted in society and culture as a whole as it is long? I became suspicious of the nature of national character. (Keep in mind that the racism committed by managers may be returned to themselves, their families, their children and future generations.)
I would appreciate it if these restaurants and their managers felt "ashamed." However, based on their shortsighted attitude, poor verbal expression and poor English proficiency, I don't think they can even recognize the fault because the level of education won't be high.
In order to become a more advanced restaurant in the global city of Munich, I hope they miss the opportunity to work. And also, this restaurant has ruined the image of Munich and Europe, I hope its citizens will turn a blind eye to it.
I just want this situation to be noted so that in the future nobody will have to deal with these...
Read moreMy sister and I decided to book a reservation on lunch, our waiter was extremely nice and kind, he asked us if everything was okay and even suggest we take a side dish in order to be full. It was a very good experience, the food amazingand the waiter was right about the side dish, the only weird thing was that me and my sister were a little bit cold, so we decided to book again on dinner. We wanted to try other tipical food, unfortunately this time everything went wrong. We arrived at the restaurant and the waitress said our table was occupied, at first we waited for five minutes, no problem at all, after some time, maybe one minutes more, she looked at us and said "Come I will get you another table", we sit ordered our drinks and wait, after five minutes we feel again cold and we realized we were sitting nearby the door, that was opened and closed and also held open by other clients. When the waiter came to the table I said to him that we had a problem because outside was freezing and also inside, his answer was "And?", probably he saw I was shocked by his answer and proceed to say sorry for the inconvenience. I said nothing order my plate and ate, same my sister. We ate with our jacket, caps and gloves on, it was very unpleasant, and we were not the only clients that had say it was not nice to make people freezing inside because the dind not tell people "Please can you not hold the door". We all had the same answer "it was not their fault and they can do nothing" . When we asked to pay, I had to pay cash, first the waiter asked for a card even if I had money in my hand (literally) and then he had no change, luckily I had some coins in my jacket so we manage. Without another word he said bye and go away. The food was great and we probably return to the restaurant, but never again...
Read moreHeimwerk has your average German food, and tastes like what you would expect a chain restaurant to be like (average). As foreigners, my partner and I did not know that you MUST have a reservation at ANY German restaurant in order to ever eat German food, which I think is ridiculous, even for a party of two. Luckily, Heimwerk Tal took us in and served us, but the service was very slow and inattentive. We arrived at 8PM, (after being rejected by 3 other German restaurants), and we did not leave until 2 & 1/2 hours later. Even when the restaurant slowed down, it didn’t seem like our server cared much about us. It took about 20 minutes to get drinks, then 10 minutes wait to order food, then 35 minutes for the food to arrive, and 30 more minutes for us to pay our bill. We had to walk to the reception counter in order to pay. At this point, the restaurant had essentially cleared out of their customers, yet our server was no where to be found. Sadly, they even turned down at least 10 more parties despite closing at midnight? This, I did not understand, and it is like that at ALL German restaurants. I understand there may be parties that stay longer, but there is definitely a lack of customer service here. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, but it was nice to say I’ve tried German food for the first time. Advice for foreigners or tourists: MAKE A RESERVATION!!! It does not matter what day it is, they are always asking for reservations,...
