Pusser's — Restaurant in Munich

In my opinion Pusser's is outright the BEST bar in Munich, if not in Germany! It is very lively and very beautiful. Go downstairs and you have an atmosphere resembling that of the film Casablanca. Many greetings to Mr. Erminio (Italian man in his 90s) at the piano who played absolutely wonderfully with all of his soul!!! The cocktails are quite tasty too, especially the rum ones. The prices are alright at around the 15 Euro range. If you have the time to go to only one bar in Munich, then it should definitely be Pusser's. But be careful since the tables downstairs are usually reserved in advance, and if you are traveling alone (as I was) you can ask the waiter to be seated there until the time of the reservation---Then you're in a race against time to make new friends quickly to join them at their table, or if you're lucky, those who reserved the table might not show up and then the table is yours. It would be wise to reserve in advance anyway, if you're interested in the musical part. I suggest you check up with them to see which days have live music with piano (I think it was from Thursday...

Pusser’s New York Bar in Munich claims to bring a slice of classic American cocktail culture to the city, but the experience feels more uptight than inviting. The strict dress code—not even baseball caps—comes across as pretentious rather than classy, especially for a bar. Their rules about keeping conversation at a certain volume further dampen the vibe, making it feel more like a library. This isn’t what a “New York-style” bar is supposed to represent.

The bar’s claim of being the first “New York Cocktail Bar in Germany” is especially dubious, considering places like The Old Fashioned Bar in Frankfurt have been serving cocktails since 1920—long before Pusser’s arrived on the scene. It feels like a stretch at best, and an attempt at rewriting history at worst. While the owners are American, it seems like they might have had to fit in a bit too much with Munich’s tight-assed tendencies. Pusser’s might be aiming for sophistication, but the result is an atmosphere that feels stifling and out of touch with the welcoming spirit that real American bars...

Cozy cocktail bar close to Odeonsplatz. It has a small ambient next to the bar with a few tables and a larger room downstairs with live piano music (mostly jazz) during weekends. Both areas are very crowded after 7 pm. Drinks served here are amongst the best you could find in Munich. There's a huge selection of cocktails for all the tastes. I'd especially recommend the ones made with Pousser's Rum. They also offer a decent variety of whisky, mostly from Scotland. Service is fast and efficient. Only one negative note, which I've seen happening two times. Some tables on the upper floor have a "reserved" label even though they are not. They tend to be given preferentially to large groups (3 or more), with an apparent disregard to the queue. I am not sure about the reason...
