Update: I went there on 18.07.2020 with an Iranian friend who'd never had Japanese food. I wanted to introduce great Japanese food to my friend and was met with a waiter (I assume it's one of the owner because he was dressed well compared to other waiters).
I spoke to him in German because my friend doesn't speak German at all. He responded by addressing the matter only to my friend ingoring me and I have to translate it to English to my friend. It was such an awkward situation for me and my friend because he was so confused why is the waiter speaking to him in German while I am addressing him in German.
Then it clicked to me that this is just JAPANESE CULTURE ignoring women and addressing only to men. I was there 2 times before that day and I was treated with respect by other waiters but this one, this particular waiter/owner is treating me like I'm not worth his breath.
The food was good, not crazily amazing. But I would never ever go back there for the sake of their ignorant (JAPANESE) cultural preservation of how men is above women. Keep making great food for all others but not for me because I'll be dammed if I ever go back there again to support your disrespectful cultural view of women.
*I was there twice before that incident and was served by other waiters (obviously just normal workers) and I had good experience with them. They'd treated me with respect.
I stand by my experience and you can judge by yourself what you want kind of business you...
Read moreI was having my winter vacation with my parents. Food was ok, but the staff (the one who served us) was extremely rude. When I was ordering food he was with no patience to answer my questions with his rolling eyes. And when I paid our bill I put extra 10 percent for the tips. Why I gave 10%? Another restaurant service in Germany told me 10% is good for tips. Before I gave around 15%, because I am living in Chicago, here for lunch people pay around 15% for tips. However, he told me here is Germany not ur country(he just assumed I am Chinese I think so), you have to put at least 15%-20%. Then I said ok and paid that. Then another group of people just left the restaurant with us. Then I asked a gentleman how much I have to pay for tips here. He said no "rule" for that, just leave some. And I text my friend who has been living in Germany for almost 20 years for the same question. He said he put less than 10%, if the bill comes with 95, he puts 100 or comes with 29, he puts 30..Just makes a "beautiful" number he likes ..There is no problem of giving more tips for good service, but this kind of rude service I had better give nothing....But since I was not aware the "rule", I gave him as what he asked. I felt that because I have my Asian face, then he assumed that I have to pay whatever he asks since in my county we do have to pay tips as well as we do not know the rule? I was trying to explain in the city I am living we pay more, but it depends on where? right? But he did not let me finish...
Read moreWas there tonight, this is my 3rd time at the restaurant - and the last visits were great (4-5 stars), but tonight was... sad.
It was not a busy night, as it is wednesday evening at 7pm. We had a quite empty restaurant, which is not bad. But the service took forever (where the half empty restaurant gets important). We ordered 3 starters, they were there pretty quick, but the waiters left us so quickly it felt almost rude to let out a little "Wait! We would like to order some drinks! :O" and even though we booked the starters and the main dishes in one go, we sat 20-30min in front of empty dishes - while nobody was in the kitchen. I could see the kitchen from my seat. In addition to the waiting, staff that came up from downstairs who were about to end their shift, went to the bar and talked really loud on their mobile. Also there was a lot of noise from slamming cabinets behind the bar. The staff was polite when approached, but it was a very unwelcomed setting, which I do not recall from my previous visits... I really liked the food, but I can't help but feel sad for...
