Best seafood I have ever tasted in a Greek restaurant! Traditional tavern on a side alley with tasteful food and good wine. The dishes we ordered were shrimps in white wine sauce (which were simply yummy), spaghetti with crayfish (🤤🤤🤤), octopus with pasta, french fries and crab salad. Everything tasted amazing, except for the crab salad which was ordered but not received (a good fact in the end because we were full, but I would have loved to try it).
Now, I gave 4 stars for the atmosphere because except for the Greek music there was nothing special to set the mood.
The 3 stars for the service are due to the fact that we waited a lot until somebody came to bring us a menu or until we received our receipt (which came only because we insisted on it) and the prices charged in the end for each meal were about 1- 2 Euros higher than those listed in the menu, thus the lack of any tips because I don't find it ok to be charged more than advertised.
All in all, really good food, but expect...
Read moreWent to 'O Andreas' yesterday, lured in by their claim of Athens' best seafood. The vibe was chill, not too snazzy, just how I like it. Kicked off with a Greek salad that was spot on, but then things went south. My fish soup was COLD (a Greek habit, maybe?) and EXTREMELY SALTY – like, I tried diluting it with a whole glass of water, but no dice, still couldn't eat it. Mentioned it to the waiter, who seemed to be an owner, and got a flat "impossible, I don't put salt" in return. No apology, nothing, just left the €8 soup and bounced. My girl got a roasted octopus for €14 and ended up with one (ONE) medium-sized rubbery tentacle. Did the waiter snack on the rest? We'll never know. Squids were decent, got plenty of those. We paid up (soup still on the bill, which was a bummer) and jetted....
Read moreWe found Andreas restaurant in a busy shopping alley in the center of Athens. Decided to give it a try — and overall it was a good experience. We tried several seafood dishes. The shrimp saganaki was a highlight — rich tomato sauce, great flavor, and the shrimp were already cleaned, which made it easy to enjoy. The kids had shrimp pasta — the portion was huge, enough for both of them, and they liked it a lot. The octopus patties (if we got that right) were not dry, but the flavor was quite unusual — probably not for everyone, and not really our thing. The mussels in tomato sauce with feta didn’t impress us either — the taste was a bit sharp, and we much preferred the shrimp. Otherwise, friendly service, good seafood selection, and a lively,...
