My family and I came to the 5F restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. Our expectations were truly exceeded by the excellent service, the quality of the food, and the specialized attention offered by the owner, Mr. Kostas (who is also the chef). The restaurant is not located in a tourist area of Athens, but in a local residential neighborhood. Upon arriving at the restaurant, it is clear to see that it is full of locals who enjoy the fabulous homemade cuisine that Mr. Kostas offers. That said, it is NOT a place that has a menu like other restaurants. Instead, Mr. Kostas offers a variety of traditional Greek dishes made by him, which change regularly. If you are willing to try and be surprised by authentic local Greek cuisine, this is the right place. It is evident that Mr. Kostas sees his foreign clientele as a unique opportunity to show the pride he feels for his culture and the love he has for authentic Mediterranean cuisine. As a recommendation, it is suggested to arrive for lunch between 1 and 3 p.m. as the food is prepared for that day, and although there is a lot of variety, it runs out quickly due to high demand. Even so, when Mr. Kostas saw us arrive at 5 in the afternoon, he served us a great variety of delicious dishes cooked especially for us, who had come from Mexico to eat them. Considering the excellent quantity and quality of the food, the quality, quantity, and price ratio is excellent. If you are looking for authenticity, it is worth the trip by metro and a few minutes' walk to the restaurant (we were staying next to the Acropolis), just keep in mind the opening hours and that the place is always busy with both locals and foreigners. As a final recommendation, if you come from abroad, do not forget to tell Mr. Kostas that you are a foreigner and that you have read this review. He loves to know where his customers come from, and it makes him feel appreciated. In fact, he gave us a complimentary Greek salad that was delicious.

KIWI VIEW. Sit outside if you can. Wait. The waiter will come to you eventually. This is not a fast food restaurant (though you can go inside and get takeaway). The VERY friendly waiter will come to you and speak English very well. As he will explain this is a very traditional Greek food place like the grandmother cooks. He’s not lying. The food changes daily depending on fresh availability. This is ok. There’s no real menu anyways. He’ll offer to sort food for you and will discuss your preferences, eg fish, meat, chicken - anything you prefer or can’t eat. Go with this. I asked for a whole grilled fish. Yummy. Bread and Greek Salad come free. Don’t forget to dress the salad to your own liking. This meal will not be a rush. Enjoy it. If you have any questions regarding the food and cooking methods they can answer in detail. Finally, this place is cheap (12euro for my full meal plus one soft drink and traditional dessert) and FANTASTIC value for money. They take cash payment at the table and card payment inside.

In short: go to this place if you want to get real Greek food. It’s really a hidden gem where they serve real greek food that you will find in any greek family. You don’t need the menu, let them know either you have any allergy or you already tried what or you let them choose- like us. They will serve you several typical dishes. Price is ranged from 10-12 per person which is reasonable with the portion. About the food, some dishes I like, some is not my favourite but what I like the most is the woman and the man who came to our table quite often to check on us if we are ok, if the food is ok, should they serve more (FOR FREE on the dish you already have, not new dishes). The greek salad at the beginning is also free. I love the way the man always smile when introducing the dishes, ingredients and “it’s on the house” (=free). The way they show their proud to their traditional food made our experience more special.

It is a nice restaurant which serves mostly very delicious meals. The prices are also very good. I liked the most of it, especially the fresh backed bread and chickpeas.

It can be very full there and the employees are getting stressed, so you need to be patient with everything. I would say between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. it is mostly very full. When you are coming too late (maybe at 5/6 p.m.), then they cannot offer a lot but they will do their best to bring you good food and make your belly satisfied.

The cook is a very friendly guy and he always does his best. He is acting very professional.

Due to the stressed times they have forgotten us a few times as we ordered some more. Two times we must also wait very long (requested the bill three times) until we could pay and leave.... about a half hour or even longer. They were aware of it and apologized often. Nowadays we are going directly to the cashier...it takes also time but it is much faster than waiting (and waiting and waiting) at the table. 😅

The Toilet was always very clean and smelled fresh. I really appreciate that.

Last time the Bottle for the free water was dirty from inside of the lid (red juice or wine...no idea what it was). Today the glasses weren't very clean, this could be really better, also in stressful times.

Today an other (male) guest smoked in the fully booked restaurant.

Sorry guys, but this is an absolutely "No Go". You should send your guest outside for smoking.

The reason is very simple.

I cannot enjoy your delicious food, when it smells and taste like cigarettes. It is very annoying and disgusting...and of course more dirty, because if the smoke itself and the ashes which flys through the whole hall.

With the food itself I am very satisfied but there is still space for improvement regarding clean dishes and "non...
