Django Gelato Athens — Restaurant in Athens

I loved Django Gelato so much that I visited them everyday that I was in Athens.

As an avid fan of ice cream, Django Gelato is one of the best ice creams I have ever had. We chanced upon Django while walking back to our apartment. The gelato is freshly made every morning from all natural ingredients. A friendly Greek customer recommended the strawberry sorbet and smoked hazelnut and pistachio to us. The strawberry sorbet was simply out of this world. While in many ice cream shops, you could detect varying extents of strawberry essence and sweetness, this strawberry sorbet was bursting with natural flavor without being too sweet. I heard that their flavors are seasonal, but it is a must try if you see it. The pistachio (their signature) was outstanding as well. I often order pistachio ice creams, and I believe it is a hard one to make well, it is often lacking/overdone in taste and sweetness. But this was a perfect blend of raw and salted pistachios. I tried many other flavors over the few days in Athens, and not one disappointed. Prices are extremely reasonable, and the staff are so friendly with great service, I loved chatting with them.

Definitely worth visiting, it will be worth the walk! It will be the first place I visit should I travel to Athens again. Would advise not to visit before 1-2pm though, as they might still be making...

I have been a few times there. Django is a one of the top Gelato places in Athens when it comes to a) quality and b) unique flavours that you cannot find easily. Sorbet Anana is my personal favourite. The design of the store is also nice and consistent with their product.

The areas that can be improved are the following: a) For the most part there are no standard/classic gelato flavours. Their menu is focused more on unique/rare flavours. This makes it difficult for consumers to benchmark - Django Gelato with something familiar. Most importantly, makes it difficult to find something to buy when you are into something more classic. Especially in case of kids -who avoid complex flavours and always prefer plain classic ones (like strawberry for example) - options are limited. b) As other people mentioned already, the staff sometimes is not so efficient when it comes to customer service. This leads to longer waiting time and sometimes without clear reason. On top of that there have been cases in which staff members have been a bit aggressive in their communication with customers.

From culinary experts I read that this must be one of the best gelatos in the world, if not "the" best in the world. I can't know myself, since I'm not an expert, except the fact that I tried all its flavors and it is by far (and by far I mean in light years distance) the best gelato I've ever had and I can't keep going back for more. In particular the sorbets are stunning, one better than the last, and more specifically the super stars are the flavors of Fig, Melon, Watermelon and Orange. Everything this place makes is non processed and you can feel it in your palate. And everything is seasonal. I tasted the orange flavor only in May when it opened and then it was over. And now in September the fig one. From chocolates I suggest the Carribean Chocolate for the more "milk chocolate" fans and the Aztec Chocolate for the fans of bitter, like myself. All in all, 5 Light Years of Stars for this place, hands down!!! If you are nearby DEFINITELY...
