We went for the classic loukoumades, simply drizzled with honey and a hint of cinnamon. Sometimes the simplest version tells you everything you need to know about a place, and here it absolutely did. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm inside, perfectly balanced between indulgent and light.

What makes Loukoumadaki even more special is the warmth of the people behind it. The owner personally offered us to try their signature honey, and it was nothing short of exceptional…fragrant, rich, and elevating the loukoumades into something unforgettable. That gesture alone speaks volumes about their passion and hospitality.

A Hidden Gem in Athens

We stumbled upon this delightful loukoumades shop during a food tour of Athens, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Europe!

It was so good, we returned later in the day to enjoy more before heading back to the US!

The loukoumades with honey cinnamon and the ones with chocolate and pistachio were simply heavenly. We were also treated to a staff member's "Grandma traditional" loukoumades with a sweet grape topping, which was a wonderful surprise.

The staff were incredibly happy and pleasant, and it was clear that they take immense pride in their shop, and they spoke English. It was so lovely to visit a place where you feel the warmth and passion behind the service. We enjoyed our treats at the sidewalk tables, soaking in the hustle and bustle of the city around us.

This mom and pop shop, with its cozy and authentic atmosphere, is a refreshing change from the big chains we saw around town. They accepted credit cards. If we're ever in Athens again, we will definitely make it a point to visit again. Highly recommend...

If you haven’t tried loukoumades and want to support a small business this is your chance! I’ve eaten many types of donuts, but I have to say that these were definitely in my top favorite. The shop harvests their own honey and also has honey related products that they sell. The donuts are fried fresh in front of you and toppings are added accordingly. We asked the owner what the most popular options were and she told us that the honey classic, grandma’s pistachio, and the choco lovers were some of the most requested, so we got all three. All of us had different opinions, but they were all incredibly fresh, warm, and tasty.
