This is a MUST GO to in Athens. I had the BEST MEAL of my life here, along with the savoury and sweet Greek pies being the best I have ever had, they had incredibly flakey crusts and truly outstanding filling. The wonderful family running the shop is so welcoming and hospitable greeting you with big smiles every time. I will remember this experience for the rest of my life.

Tip: go around 12-2pm to get the fresh lunch they serve! They also have moussaka but it sells out quick (I sadly missed it), but the Greek lasagna was life changing. My only regret is that I did not return every single day of my trip in Athens.

My favourites: Mushroom Pie 10/10 Spinach Pie (Spanakopita) 10/10 Greek Lasagna (not sure the exact name) 1000000/10 Beef Patties 100/10 Lemon Potatoes 100/10 Although I am convinced this restaurant could never serve something less than perfect so choose what you like.

Price is very fair and the quality...

I had to wait till I try all of the traditional Greek pies in order to fill this review. It’s a hidden diamond in the heart of Athens. Excellent choice of local ingredients , oil, flour, cheese etc. Homemade pies by miss Pandora herself. You can actually watch her preparing the pies right in front of you. As mentioned above I did tried them all and I feel that I have to present my favorite ones : pasta pie ( pasta with cheese) , milk pie , cheese pie, pumpkin pie and mushroom pie. From time to time you might find by surprise some variations depending on the period ( fasting , Christmas , Easter etc.). To be honest I did push my mum to try them as a devoted pie maker herself and she was speechless. Miss Pandora is extremely friendly always there to serve you and willing to give you all the information you ask for, regarding her lovely pies. Highly recommended !!!!!! Ps: haven’t tried the daily home made dishes yet but...

These ladies are some of the sweetest around. Their English is very limited so do try and learn at least a cursory amount of Greek in order to respectfully place your order.

The mushroom pie is my absolute favorite. I’ve been living and working here for 4 months now and I start nearly every morning with a mushroom pie. It’s delicious and the most flavorful out of them all. The spinach, the chicken, the cheese, and even the milk pies are all gorgeous in their own right - I prefer the mushroom.

Their selection of baked treats aren’t something to glance past. They’re very inexpensive and a neat way to taste the parts of Athens culture that are otherwise missed.

The lunch and dinner meals are fantastic as well. Of them my favorite are the oven roasted chicken and potatoes, or the stuffed peppers and tomatoes. Both are packed with delicious flavors of Mediterranean cuisine.

Don’t sleep on the sleepy...

Delicious little place with traditional homemade pies and a lot of other options as well. So good and so cheap! We stumbled across this cosy little restaurant after visiting the Akropolis. We didn't want to eat in one of those tourist restaurants which were located directly on the opposite of the Akropolis museum. So we entered a smaller side street, and were instantly captivated by the beautiful smell of freshmade food. The majority of customers were locals which is always a good sign. We had a milk pie, a spinach and cheese pie, and a plate of filled capsicum and filled tomatoes with potatoes. The food was amazing. Seasoning was just perfect and the aromas of fresh herbs were so fragrant. What a great start into the day!

I found this charming place on a quiet side street across from the Acropolis on a Sunday morning. Only the owner and his wife were there as it was a Sunday AND this was a holiday weekend so most Athenians were out of town. The owners (a “retired” couple) took great care of me, telling me their story including suggesting I get coffee from the cafe across the way and bring it back as they do not sell coffee. And the owner even brought me a delicious dessert on the house. I had a delicious spinach and cheese pie expertly made by the owner’s wife plus fresh squeezed orange juice. All for 7E. I’ll definitely go back before my trip is over. Note that the restaurant name is written only in Greek! Look for a photo in other reviews.
