Wine Is Fine, tucked away on Vissis Street in Athens, is a gem you might stumble upon, but trust me, it’s worth the detour. Don’t be surprised by the line outside. It’s not just because they don’t take reservations; people are willing to wait for a reason. The vibe is pure 70s chic, with a cool, laid-back atmosphere that somehow feels both stylish and cozy. It’s the kind of place that attracts everyone—from the casual wine sipper to the trendy date-night couple. The outdoor seating on a quiet side street adds a romantic, relaxed feel you won’t find in many spots around here. The wine list is solid, offering great selections without the pretentious price tag. The food? They claim French-inspired, but honestly, I got more of an Italian flair. Either way, it’s tasty and pairs perfectly with the wine. The staff knows their stuff—friendly, helpful, and quick to recommend the best wine and food pairings without making you feel like you’re being sold to. Prices are fair, especially for the quality you’re getting. It’s an ideal spot, no matter what time of day, whether you're grabbing a glass after work or enjoying a slow evening. One of the best places for a relaxed hangout in the heart of Athens.

Great natural wine bar!

This little gem in the heart of Athens truly lives up to the buzz. It came highly recommended by a French friend and even got a shout-out in the Financial Times, both well-deserved! Wine takes center stage here: you pay a fixed price by the glass, choose the style you want, and they’ll pour what’s on offer that day. I couldn’t decide which I liked more, the white or the orange wine. We paired our wines with a cheese plate and two mains: a delicious lamb roll in anchovy sauce featuring fresh herbs and pomegranate, and a classic French boeuf bourguignon. For dessert, the soft pear tatin wrapped things up beautifully. The vibe matches the quality of the food and drink, with great music and a minimal yet cozy decor. If you’re into good wine and laid-back charm, put this spot at the top of your list.

Me and my friends came there yesterday night at 10 PM and asked for a seat, unfortunately there was no place. They got my friend’s phone number and told us that they would call us as soon as there was a free table. In that time we changed bar and waited. At almost 1 AM we decided to come back to drink the last glass. First of all the waiter told my friend that she tried to call him but no phone call was ever made, and that can be fine thinking about the amount of work they had that night, but it was still lie. After we asked if it was still possible to drink something and the waiter told us yes but just for 30 minutes because they were going to close at 1:30. We said yes and got inside to choose our wine by the glass. They treated us very poorly, no one explained a single thing about the wine we were going to buy, even if we tried to understand something about it. The waiter made try the wine just to half of us and to the rest he just gave the glass and that was it. He also said something in English about being rude and when we asked to repeat he laughed at our face. We got our wine by the glass and went outside to drink. They gave me a pet nat for 9 euro, and considering that pet nat is usually one of the cheapest at every wine bar I found the fact very strange but proceeded to pay anyways. After that I stated to the waiter that we weren’t really happy about the service and she said yes I know but I told you guys that we were closing. This was false because the bar closes at 1:30 AM and she even said to us that we could stay, for 30 minutes, but we could stay. She made me feel uncomfortable and stupid because she repeatedly continued to say false statements and contradicting me even if 8 people (my friends) were there with me and witnessed everything they said before and after. I think that this treatment was conditioned by our age, we are 20 and that’s okay to be surprised to see such young people at a natural wine bar, but we do this for passion and some of us even study gastronomy so I find this treatment very offensive. I will never came back to this place because I don’t believe in this type of service and restauration. Everyone should be treated equally even if they are young and they can seem unexperienced, we are all here to learn and try and the wine world is so huge and beautiful that I believe that places like this should try to be open to everyone and give the opportunity to learn. This is not the case; a place of hypocrisy were natural wine is seen as way to make money by riding a...

I went with great joy to drink wine but then I experienced a very bad day. This restaurant is blocking unlawfully the pedestrian street on the right side and when the humble workers by the cleaning service by the Athens Munucipality arrived they could not pass due to the blockage of the tables .They then stood out of the car to complain and that was the most brutal moment I faced in such a "classy"wine bar.An attitude of superiority and arrogance towards people that told them "You don't let us clean this city, you block the street, let us pass"I was a witness and took video out of my shock. We go usually to wine bars for high quality of not just taste but mainly attitude amd aesthetics, the food was below average, plates small and expensive the wine was good but overall I don't support business that do not respect either the historic area of Athens but more importantly I can't accept how low they fell when they answered in such rudeness to the cleaning service of Munucipality. The most shocking was that they did it openly in front of us the clients without any remorse ..We went to the Munucipality right after to declare the incident. They verified that the extra chairs were placed without any permission by the Munucipality.Kindly ask you to think twice to support any business that exploits public space and behaves rudely to proud people who keep Athens...

FlorilĂšge de citations : « oh, so you didn’t ask for the menu » , « you know, it is a place like this, the customers come inside to pass the orders when they don’t have the table yet » pourquoi pas, sauf que j’ai commencĂ© par demander Ă  grignoter pendant l’attente, donc une prise de commande ou un menu Ă©tait juste logique. « oh so after when you were at the table, you didn’t ask for the menu ? « this dish (aspargus and guanciale) is supposed to be cold we take it from the fridge » = pas sĂ»r mais ce n’est pas le sujet, on avait pas de couteau. Maybe it’s supposed to be eaten with the hands? « it’s maybe a place that you will not like, it’s like this here we cannot have full attention on the clients » abasourdi.
