Sitting in the restaurant now. Three days left of a 5 week stay. I was planning on having dinner here each remaining night as it has been the best dining experience of my trip! Unfortunately tonight they close until next year. But I will be back!!! As a lone female it’s not always easy to find a restaurant where you feel completely at ease, but Colombo I just love!!! From my first visit I was made to feel welcome, at ease and really well looked after. The food is fresh and delicious, care and thought has been taken to make it look as aesthetically appealing as possible when it appears in front of you, as it should. So often restaurants don’t realise the impact of visual appeal. Not here!! The food is Instagram worthy of that is your thing. It looks amazing. Not only does it make good business sense but it also shows a commitment to producing high quality food and excellent customer experience. The staff work like a finely tuned machine, they are attentive, friendly and professional and every small detail is taken care of. Some restaurants don’t bother with the small details, but they’re missing a trick. Those small details can turn a good experience into a fantastic one!!! There is a waiter who took the time to chat, make sure I had everything I needed and gave me a really warm welcome on my first welcome, and also the second time around. In a very genuine, personable way. A real credit to the restaurant. All the staff are amazing though, they obviously take pride in doing their jobs well and providing customers with a memorable experience. I love that attitude. It’s not shared by many restaurants. But it makes all the difference when you are travelling alone, trust me!! I know where I would return to and which restaurants I will be recommending to other travellers and family!! Did I mention the vibe? Relaxed, understated, laid back, great music!! If you haven’t realised by now, I love this place. I will be back next year and thank the staff for being one of my favourite parts of...
Read moreFirst, the setting is lovely on a narrow street in Old Town Chania, and the staff were really lovely and friendly. However, I am a bit confused by the number of 5* reviews suggesting this is the best place in town for authentic Greek food. A few things stood out to us as different to other restaurants we visited in Chania. First, the menu is clearly tailored for tourists with garlic bread, pizza, and pasta - which is fine if that's what you're looking for, but it didn't strike us as particularly authentic in comparison to local restaurants. Second, prices are quite a bit higher (not necessarily an issue in itself if the food is good) and they charge you for bread and olive oil - nowhere else we've seen this and very strange given the prices and general Greek hospitality (which, in our experience, is excellent). Lastly, I ordered a tabbouleh expecting a lovely rich salad full of vegetables (namely parsley, onion, tomato, garlic, mint; salads have been really good everywhere else we went, not really surprising on an island which such lovely weather) and cous cous but what I got was a very strange interpretation of tabbouleh with a salad mix that looks like the one I get at home from the supermarket, LOADS of pitta bread (???), cous cous and some mayonnaise-looking white stuff (I initially hoped it was greek yoghurt but it was warm and didn't have much of a taste, so I am unsure what it actually was). It was very disappointing. Maybe their other dishes are outstanding, but I would personally recommend looking further if you'd like a lovely authentic food experience in Chania - there are so many...
Read moreOwner appeared to be very dismissive upon my arrival.I was waved away upon entering the establishment and told to wait outside while being physically hurried. I dismissed the encounter as not being allowed in the area .An attendant was not present to take reservations. However, roughly 5 minutes later the attendant introduced himself and stated the location was full while showing me a list. Oddly he was present the entire time and waited and never introduced himself earlier.Terrible impression as a black American visiting the area. The worst service I've received since my stay. Update:The owner's response was just as ridiculous as his treatment at the restaurant. I have tried several dining options in old town ,all which accepted reservations and was seated promptly by each restaurant or provided a wait time. I strongly advise anyone from dining here, body language and tone speaks volumes!!!Also,to your dismay sir I was seated at another restaurant and enjoying my night without any inconvenience or consideration to your treatment. Your review is one of hundreds that I've posted in various cities/countries.The review will not be deleted because you're not satisfied, that's typically how things work "in my country " or everywhere else that has a website for business and provides a service. If your restaurant is reservation only your website or company information should be updated to avoid confusion .Your treatment was unacceptable. Again, very unprofessional with communication and terrible...
