The best place we ate in Chania!! It took as a while to find it during our first evening but we returned there ever since. In total we ate 4 times there, almost every evening we stayed in Chania. We tried other places but nothing comparable. Once we even traveled from Platanias to Chania to have dinner there!
Every time the food was exceptional, fresh ingredients with amazing mix of flavours. I don't even have pictures of all the foods we ate there. One of my all times favourite (that we ordered 3 times!) was the octopus salad. It's called different in the menu, but it's the salad that has octopus in it. We tried almost all salads and all have incredibly tasty dressings that go so well with the rest of the ingredients. We also tried their homemade pasta, some of their starters, the grilled octopus (only half shown in the picture); the shrimps with feta were particularly tasty! They serve complimentary water and fruit; their bread and olive oil is to die for!
The members of staff are so friendly and welcoming. Every time we went there, we had to wait for a table. We were lucky we could wait, as for other groups the staff had to turn them down as no table was available for the next hour or so. But even with that, they were very polite about it. One time, we had to leave before the complimentary watermelon because of travel to Elafonissi and they were even recommending us what to do there and alternative close by beaches to explore. We had an amazing experience every time we went there. I wish we could stay longer in Chania to try all their menu!
The decor is also super pretty and the atmosphere is very chilled. I highly recommend to eat there. The busiest period is around 9-9:45. Probably the wait in this window is over 1h. If you come before or after, it's likely you'll wait anywhere from 10 to 30 mins. But it's so damn worth it!
Can't wait to visit Chania again...

Read moreKoutourouki is a fantastic bakery located in the heart of Chania, on the beautiful island of Crete. The young and energetic staff were incredibly attentive, especially to us, as we had a child with us. Their excellent service made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
The food was delicious, and the coffee was just as impressive. We especially appreciated the care they took in preparing hot chocolate for our child at the perfect temperature. It’s the little things like this that make a place stand out. The bakery is conveniently located in the old town, close to the harbor and the charming streets lined with leather shops.
We highly recommend Koutourouki for its great atmosphere, excellent food, and attentive service. We will definitely return on our next...
