I was a bit hesitant about booking this hotel since i needed to book for 3 nights, I was traveling solo, I do not speak Greek, I had never been to Crete and I had no idea what to expect but what a wonderful surprise this place is. The hotel is located in the middle of everything a first time tourist to Chania would want; restaurants, shops and just down the block is the beautiful Venetian port. I arrived and was greeted at the front desk by Eleutheria who was so warm and welcoming and put me completely at ease. The check in was fast, the room was in their main building and it is beautiful. As soon as I went in the room there was a place to sit, some treats in the refrigerator and a bottle of Raki for me to try. I was so taken back by the attention to detail. The exposed wood beams, the curtains, the pillar bed with flowers seem so old world yet very modern. The room is spacious with huge widows which can be opened for fresh air, the shower has excellent water pressure and the bed is super comfortable. Also the room has a small balcony facing the small street where I could sit and relax after a day of exploring. Eleutheria and the rest of her family that run the hotel are very charming and accommodating, it was a pleasure to spend a bit of time with them answering all my questions. I also want to give thanks to Eleutheria for the surprise birthday cake I received for my birthday which still makes me smile and made my stay truly special. Keep in mind this is a historical building and some things are old however it is very well preserved, this is what makes this place special. If you are looking for a place to stay and relax, where you can set as a home base to explore the west side of the island with all it’s archeological sites and beautiful beaches like I did then this is the place you want to stay.
