My wife chose this restaurant because of all the great reviews, and boy did it deliver!
We came during Norwegian dinner time (18pm) and it was quiet and calm. The atmosphere felt home-ish like stepping into a mom’s kitchen. The service was great, we got recommended the dishes of the day and the staff was pleasant. After we had finished we were served raki and a small ice cream that reminded us of the “pin-up is” from back home. My wife is pregnant, so I had to drink all the raki (obviously), which might impact this review positively😂
The only disappointments was that the mashed potatoes served with the cod had way too much garlic for our taste and what we’re used to. The caramelized hazelnuts were a bit too much served on top of tomato jam for the fried feta. At some point it becomes too sweet, even for us. And the lamb chops were a bit tiny and didn’t have a lot of meat on them.
All that said, we had the sourdough bread which was insanely good, served with grated tomatoes and oregano. We had fried feta with tomato-jam and caramelized hazelnuts, which were awesome when you ditched either the ham or the hazelnuts. We had tzatziki you could die for! Don’t get me started on the saganaki shrimp. If you order that you’d want the stock to last forever!! Maybe the most flavorful dish of the night, 10/10 would recommend. And we had the fried cod and lamb chops which also had incredible flavor, minus the mashed potatoes. I mean, the lamb had to be grilled on charcoal or something, it was so delicious I only wanted more meat on the bone.
If you decide to dine at Kapari, the only regret you’ll have is that you didn’t order more! Highly...
Read moreI'm so grateful for the lady in today.
My wife has been ill with very bad food poisoning (FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE) and today had to go to hospital to be put on an IV drip. Having not eaten for a while, they needed to see her try and eat something and naturally being a tourist in a foreign country, trying to find plain toast or a plain sandwich in a place you don't know, can't understand the language, and in that area every street looks the same, so after wandering up and down lost trying to find something, I was hitting a brick wall.
This was until the lady said hello to me as I was looking at the building and I could just tell she had a kind energy, I popped my head in and explained the situation and she stopped the work she was doing, had a think and told me to follow her. Then when we were in the place, she jumped to the start of the queue and spoke in greek to be able to check if this place would be able to help, and luckily they could do exactly what I needed, fresh. I am sure if they couldn't have done it she would have taken me somewhere else.
Massively grateful as otherwise I'd have been wandering around lost and probably without success.
I had to hunt around on Google maps to leave this review as I needed to share. I haven't tried the food here, but I can tell you now without a doubt that you will get amazing customer service here. She didn't have to help me but we are both glad she did!
Being ill at home is one thing, but when you are in another country without your comforts, it is a very different story. Her help took a weight and stress off for even just a small...
Read moreWe came here for lunch but were met with rude service. We ordered the zucchini appetizer, but when it arrived, it had a very strange texture and taste — it seemed undercooked or just not fresh. The waiter simply said, “That’s how we cook it.” I explained that it looked odd and we didn’t want to eat it, but for some reason this became an issue for the waiter.
When they brought the zucchini a second time, we tried it again and realized it wasn’t undercooked — it was actually spoiled. Of course, we didn’t eat it. When another waiter asked if everything was okay, we explained that the dish wasn’t raw, it was spoiled, and we didn’t want to continue eating it. I didn’t think this was a big deal — we just wanted to enjoy the rest of our lunch.
However, the first waiter came back and started criticizing us, insisting that nothing was wrong with the dish and that they serve it 20 times a day. I explained again that we didn’t want it because it was spoiled.
We were shocked that this turned into such an unpleasant argument instead of just resolving it politely. They did remove the dish from the bill, but that wasn’t why we brought it up — we simply wanted to have a good lunch. Unfortunately, the whole experience left us feeling very uncomfortable, so we paid the bill and left Kapari feeling...
