You will leave this place smiling, with a full belly and wanting to return! The atmosphere is full of character - Busy staff ensuring that people are seated & cared for, Jimi Hendrix blaring in the background, friendly cats that come to say hello, beautiful crockery & an eclectic mix of musical decor on the walls and I haven't even mentioned the food yet! This place felt like home and I'm from New Zealand, ā fair distance from Chania!
Choosing from the menu feels personalised since you have a chalk board that is placed in front of you, to make your selection when it's your turn. The options are plenty so choose wisely and come with an appetite as its tempting to order too much because the prices are ridiculously inexpensive!
For main, I had grilled Sea Bream, AMAZING! Husband had claypot beef & redsauce with bread to soak up the delicious sauce. We shared some zucchini balls and Greek salad. All of this was excellent, I would have it again and again!
The main man to thank for this is Yiannis! He takes pride in this place, he is accommodating, welcoming, teaching, hardworking, honest and kind. If you are lucky enough to dine here, my advice is, be patient, soak up your surroundings, order everything your belly can take and enjoy! It's not just a meal, it's an experience.
Sas efcharistó poli! To Yiannis and your team - We will be back! Paul...
Read moreI really don’t know why people are saying that the food is so good. Or we were so unlucky? The dolmadakia (stuffed vine leaves) were very bland, no taste really, and the rice was hard, the whole thing was dry too. Greek salad okay but very small for the price. And the worst: shrimp saganaki… the small plate had incoherent “sauce” and three (yes, 3) pieces of medium size shrimps for 13 euros. I am not sure if it’s the running coat or what, but this place is overvalued and overpriced (based on our food experience). Such a pity, because the service was warm and nice, and the location is great!
EDIT: responding to the owner: If a shrimp main dish contains 3 pieces, how many would you put in a starter? Do you think having 3 shrimps in a main dish is not a rip off? Do you think undercooked, hard rice in dolmadakia is okay? Yes you can argue that flavours are subjective but at the same time you could say “we will try better next time” or something similar. By the way I forgot to say that the “feta in filo” was fantastic so it seems you guys know how...
Read moreThe restaurant has a beautiful terrace, especially in the evening the atmosphere is very nice BUT the service is really slow and the waiters don’t really pay attention. We ordered the octopus which was really good but unfortunately I can’t say that about any of the other dishes we ordered. The Brian was ok but nothing special and there was no real selection of vegetables - it was mostly zucchini with one piece of carrot and a bit of red pepper, the shrimps tasted bitter and the overall presentation of the food was not great. We were offered some watermelon and rakia on the house but we had to chase the waiters to pay the bill and it wasn’t even that many people there for 3 waiters to manage. Other than the octopus, I wouldn’t...
