Taverna Telchinia — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

To be honest although I am only leaving a 3 star review, I will say that everyone who served us and was working there was very friendly and polite. It's just the service itself wasn't great.

We were often left with empty glasses awaiting to be offered another drink, the food was completely fine but not much more than just that - fine. We would have happily had dessert but were never offered a menu or asked whether we wanted anything else when plates were being cleared. We then waited a while to get seen to ask for the bill which when it came was incorrect.

The table next to us recieved the incorrect food order. It's a shame as the setting is very nice, and as mentioned everyone was friendly, but with a little more attentiveness to the service, this could easily be rated higher.

Overall It was not bad, but...

Left the place 30 minutes ago: it looks nice, with trees and a terrace and a lot of shade and cool air, the perfect place to have lunch away from the heat However…the food experience was the worst we had in Greece: portions were smaller for similar or bigger prices (we ordered approximatively the same courses as in previous days based on what we knew the kids like), had sidings with dry veggies or tasteless rice just to “fill the plate”. We ordered an extra pizza as the kids were still hungry and we got a frozen pizza. Conclusion: We paid 65€ (10€ more than what we had în other places) for bad and less food. We discovered this restaurant while taking a night walk near the near the alley where the restaurant is located. The atmosphere was very promising and romantic, just outdoors when you need a breeze from the hot summer days.

The staff was professional, enthusiastic always with a sunny attitude, made us feel very welcomed.

As for the food, it's one of the few places I would say I ate real homemade Greek food. Large portions, fresh ingredients. Taste was on every plate we tried. Don't miss the Grill! It's a must.
