lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. on a quietish corner not far from the main streets of the old town, opposite a mosque and an old ottoman era well. the comfiest seating i found in rhodes. Maria who works there is an absolute delight. on our last day she wanted us to come back later to see her and have a drink with her, but unfortunately we had to get back to the hotel. the beer was cold and one bloke we saw had a litre glass boot of it there, never seen such a happy face. only ate there once, but was a good salami baguette with crisps on the side. the drinks may seem pricey, but no more than the rest of the old town, and better than the squares with the bars and restaurants near the harbour. the toilets were up a spiral staircase at the end of the bar, so no good for the infirm as they are steep, and the stairs and the walls are both black so very dark. the lights at the top and in the toilets come on automatically. the music playing ( only went in afternoons so can't comment on later ) was nice mix. especially the eighties stuff. i'd go back...

What ruined the experience the most was the waitress. She was incredibly annoying, constantly inviting random passersby to sit, overly fake-nice, and speaking to us in a robotic way with memorised phrases. It felt impersonal and insincere, making the whole visit uncomfortable.
Definitely not a place...

We found Baluse by chance the first time and made our way back to it a second time. The 'Cheese and Cold Cuts' plate was enough for 2 for a light lunch. The crêpes with fruit, nuts and ice-cream was also good to share. You sit on low sofa type chairs and can relax in this quiet corner of Rhodes old town, watching the...
