MELI Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Firstly I have to say the food itself once arrived / corrected was exceptional, it really was. We arrived and were seated on our table, reserved earlier that day. It took quite some time for anyone to come to our table, when they did we ordered drinks and food at the same time. The starters were excellent, Vine leaves stuffed with rice and herbs, they melted in your mouth. My wife ordered sirloin steak, we asked for it well done, the steak came out pink to medium. The menu also said it was to come with a jacket potato, but it came with French Fries. My main course, which was the beef Mell tasted fantastic but unfortunately it was lukewarm. I first asked for my meal to simply be warmed up in the microwave. A replacement wasn't necessary as it tasted fantastic. They agreed but no apology offered. We also asked at the same time for my wife's steak to be cooked to well done as originally requested. It seemed an inconvenience to the staff, and once again no apology. By the time my wife's steak came back out she had eaten all her chips (otherwise would have gone cold). Her pepper sauce had now gone cold. I myself, by then had finished my meal. We asked for the sauce to be warmed up, again no apology. So in summary, the food was exceptional, once delivered correctly but the service and customer understanding fell shorter than a midgets kilt. We have just got back from eating at the wonderful restaurant. We walked passed the place yesterday and noticed a vegan sign, both being vegan and after some Greek vegan options we asked the owner about the offerings he showed us the vegan/veggie menu and talked through all the options. We were after some traditional greek food gyro/souvlaki/pitta etc. The owners passion for his food as well as his knowledge about vegan food was clear we were sure we would go back to eat, we did and were not disappointed. We had homemade dolmades which I believe were a family recipe, grilled vegetables which were the nicest I think I have ever eaten! Then we had gyro and souvlaki with fries and pitta as a main course. All was delicious and confidently vegan. I am sure we will be back the owners passion for his restaurant, the food and it for it to succeed for his family is incredible. Meli in Rhodes Old Town is an absolute hidden gem! This family-run restaurant offers everything you could hope for amazing homemade food, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and hospitality that truly touches your heart.

The food was outstanding, full of authentic flavors and clearly prepared with love. I highly recommend the mixed grill, which was perfectly cooked and incredibly generous. The homemade dishes and drinks here are on another level, you can really taste the care that goes into every bite and sip.

What made the evening unforgettable was the owner himself. He took the time to sit with us, share the story of why he opened Meli, and even gave our kids a beautiful reason to follow their passions in life. That personal connection made the experience so much more than just dinner, it felt like being welcomed into someone’s home.
