After reading the reviews of Country Kitchen we had to pay it a visit, and with it being just around the corner former we were staying it was an easy choice us.
The Venue is located down a fairly quiet side street in Rhodes Town. When you step inside the ambiance takes you into a traditional Greek Taverna. We were sat in the Garden area . For Greek times we ate early , around 7pm. By the time we left around 8:30 the place was almost full. As guests started to sit and order the chef made an appearance saying hello to everyone and reacquainting himself with regulars and those that had been before .
Menu was traditional Greek. A great selection of starters , mains including meat and fish.
We started with the very tasty Zucchini chips for starter with a lovely Greek salad (the zucchini chips were not gluten free )
For mains , we had a sea bream with vegetable , which was a good size for one person . Along with a Beef Stifado. I had to let it settle and cool for 5mins as it was very hot, But packed full of flavour .
All the staff were very attentive and helpful.
This place had a great atmosphere and with the traditional Greek music playing in the background made the experience.
When we return to Rhodes we will...
Read moreOur group ordered fish soup, souvlaki for 2 persons, tea and mix grill. Fish soup wasn’t tasty at all, don’t recommend ordering it. This thing can’t be called a soup, more like leftovers from a large soup pot. Also we ordered tea, the “hot” water was as warm as the air temperature. We asked for a new tea and they kindly brought a new one with hot water. Oh boy, don’t get me started on the amazing grill dish for 45 european buckaroos. There was chicken, lamb ribs, sausages, hamburger patty, pork. The only thing that was made on the grill were sausages and pattys. The chicken was boiled and the broth probably used to make a “tasty” soup. Lamb ribs were stewed. Pork bits were fryed on a pan. Dry chicken and ribs were thrown on a grill to give an impression of being on the grill. I ate the chicken because of the amazing protein that it has in it. If your a gym rat, eating this chicken would be a chore. On the positive side, atmosphere was nice, staff was friendly, the cook though should be demoted. Souvlaki was tasty, but it lacked...
Read moreToday we wanted to eat at this restaurant, because we read the good reviews. As we reached the restaurant and told the waiter we are two people, we were offered the only left place designated for two people. However, this one was right next to the kitchen and there even still was a brochure from a cook that probably had his break there. I then asked the waiter if there are other tables and if maybe he could offer us a table for four, since plenty of these were free. He denied and even after I asked if he preferred to have empty four seaters, rather than taking away two stools for 30-45 min, he told me yes and we left. The service was non existent and we never experienced anything similar in this region. Usually it's no issue for any restaurant to adjust to the amount of guests. Really...
