Was debating whether to make this review or not. Finally decided to post this so here goes. It's a mixed bag for me. The food was really tasty and the prices were pretty good considering the usual prices in restaurants across the city of Rhodes. The lady that greeted us was very polite and cheerful. You do wait for the food longer than usual and she did say we'll wait about 20 minutes or so but it turned out we waited for much longer than that, and that's where things get tricky and interesting I guess. While we were waiting for our food shouting erupted from the kitchen. The two cooks, I'm guessing ( a man and a woman) started fiercely yelling at each other. Their fight echoed in the street and after a couple of minutes we herd stuff being thrown to the ground ( here I'm hoping they weren't throwing things at each other). This lasted for a good 10 to 15 minutes at least. After that the woman that was part of this clash had to come out sit down and have a cigarette to decompress. The lady that greeted us sat down with her to help her relax. After that a bit more shouting occurred and then the manager or the owner came and listened to the reason why they were fighting. The lady that greeted us came to apologize for inconvenience and we didn't want to make a big deal out of it. They were lucky that we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time as I am sure more problems would have arisen had there been more people. Our food arrived after about 45 minutes of waiting. Now we couldn't have eaten or drank anything more than we ordered as their servings are large and tasty, nor did we want anything else however... Something as a token of appology or anything that can show they really cared about what happened would have gone a long way. Any kind of gesture that shows that you as a restaurant care about the atmosphere and the overall service to your customers shows you are a good host and care about your customers. Otherwise you just invite people to be hostile and can scare others away. Some customers could have thrown a fit, asked for an explanation and left. That should just be common sense in basic catering industry. Something like 3 small slices of a watermelon that some people won't even eat won't cost you almost anything but it will count as a nice gesture and that's what people will appreciate...
Read moreWe genuinely love this delightful French restaurant in the heart of downtown Rodos. Having recently moved to new premises Artou and Sabrina have created a modern stylish French bistro in Mandilara 16. It's created the vibrant warm vibe of Paris in the heart of Rodos. The food is of the highest standard of French cuisine yet very reasonably priced. Artou creates a rotisserie poulet that is perfect! Succulent, chrisp brown skin served with side dishes of your choosing. We had duck fat potatoes and ratatouille. Delicious. The chicken comes with a mouth watering chicken jus served in a separate classic small copper pot. Artou's master stroke! An entree of roasted camembert with a side dish of honey was delicate delightful oozy cheese with a rocket salad and so French! Desert Sabrina presented a beautifully poached pear with deep chocolate sauce, vanilla bean ice cream and roasted slivered almonds. Artou recommended a white wine from the Loire Valley. Perfect. You would not expect food of this quality on Rodos and for such a reasonable price. The ambience is fun and casual. Artou and Sabrina's love of food and people makes your time here...
Read moreWhat a lovely place. We had passed by a few times and decided that it was time to give it a go as sometimes you just want something simple and uncomplicated. My partner had a courgette/zucchini salad which was so delicious and fresh tasting and I had the snails which were beautifully cooked to start, I then had the chefs chicken plate with roasted baby potatoes which was simple, beautifully cooked and came with a delicious hot garlic butter dressing. My partner had a shredded rotisserie chicken burger again with the baby roast potatoes which was again beautifully cooked. We both had the creme brulee for desert again perfectly cooked and caramelised at the table. For drinks I had a rum cocktail and my partner lovely fresh beer cocktail and a white wine. All in all a meal full of flavours, perfectly cooked. The owner couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming. Definitely added to our very short list of restaurants we will visit everytime we are on the island. A well deserved 😋 😋 😋 😋 out of 5 yummies from me, food, atmosphere, attention and...
