Flora — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

Horrible and disappointing experience. We were excited to try the restaurant’s food on our trip to Santorini; however, sadly from the beginning we were faced with rude and condescending employees. As I approached the manager asking for a table, he ignored me and responded to the groups behind me in line. After waiting ten minutes for a table (even though the restaurant was empty and no reservation is needed), we sat down. When ordering food, we asked for pepperoni pizza and the male waiter responded sarcastically and rudely that he doesn’t know what pepperoni is and that we can’t make ANY changes on the menu (even removal of ingredients) or else the chef would shoot him. We then saw that there was pepperoni pizza on the menu but he refused to serve us. Lastly, we asked another waiter if we can change our table to a closed space because it was windy and he agreed. As we were moving our seats, the main male waiter started arguing and screaming, running across the restaurant, that we cannot because it’s too much work for him. We left because of the rude service. Overall, very disappointed and sad that we received this impression of the restaurant during our trip...

Not a great place to go if you are vegan or gluten free.

I am writing this so that others can learn from our experience. My partner and I have sensitivities to gluten and dairy. We came to Flora after reading a good review from someone with a gluten allergy. We ordered the quinoa salad, grilled octopus, and chicken with potatoes.

The server was very helpful and told us he would speak with the kitchen since most of the sauces had dairy, We told him we would be ok with any sauces without dairy or gluten, also that we were concerned about the food being dry. He came back letting us know he would bring the dishes with the sauce on the side. When the dishes arrived they were without any sauce and tasted slightly bland.

We brought up our concerns and the manager came to speak with us. He was apologetic and explained that if we didn't have these restrictions the meal would have been good. I asked if we could just pay for what we ate so far but he said the most he could do is 20% off or a free dessert.

We started with their Tzatziki, Santorinian tomato fritters and of course the Greek salad, and it was a burst of freshness and flavors. The combination of ripe tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, tangy olives, and creamy feta cheese was a true taste of Greece.
