12 Onzas — Restaurant in Sacatepéquez

I read a great review and saw the sweet courtyard, so went this morning. The food is sadly not very good. Fancy ideas with poor results (dry pancakes) but the bacon was good. I think the good bacon was due to having better products to chose from in Guatemala. The cortado was tepid and not strong enough for my tastes.

While I was seated in the courtyard, they decided to wire up a big speaker and put on at a high volume some music with a strong bass and little else. I asked them to lower it and I thought they did, but all they did was move the speaker and turn it right back on.

I live in a place of hipster coffee houses, San Francisco, California, and believe it or not, most of them don't blast the music. Loud music is usually for the people who work at the Cafe (young males in particular), not for the customers.

Beautiful place customer service-wise and aesthics-wise, but will not be returning....

The coffee is top notch (especially the artesanal mocca con cardomamo). The service is spot on.

The atmosphere in the café proper is very nice, but the garden is a little generic, and the stale pop music that comes out of the garden sound system doesn't help. It's a better experience inside.

The food is very good. I'm not a huge fan of their bread, though. Had it twice with two different meals, one of which was avocado toast, and it's so thick and fluffy that it feels undertoasted, but if they were to toast it more, it'd probably feel dried out and overly crumbly. I think I'd avoid the avocado toast altogether in favor of one of their more unique dishes. Still, a minor complaint to an otherwise good restaurant. The cafe itself was lovely, and I often came here to work during my stay in Antigua. However, I was wrongly accused of not paying for my coffee, although I paid when I made the order at the front desk. The staff(a white guy) chased after me but did not even apologize after I showed him the proof, which left me feeling disappointed and frustrated after an otherwise positive experience. I hate to leave a negative review, especially because other staff were really helpful in my previous visits. I wish you improve your customer service...
