I went to Fat Cat three times and will share my experience of all three:

I didn't even have a chance to try it the first time. walked into the cafe, and all of the tables were occupied by digital nomads working on their laptops. They had a couple of big tables with just one person on it working away. This trip we went to 12 onzas just across the road to try some coffee.

Went back again and, AGAIN, all the tables were full with digital nomads. Got takeaway coffee and hung out at the park - it was nice

Third times the charm, right? No. We finally had a chance to sit at a "table" - my group of 2 friends and I were sat at the bench and stools quite uncomfortably while all the big tables were, again, filled up by one person working on a laptop. Anyway, as we were out at a public cafe (not library) my friends and I were chatting away, then this rude patron comes up and asks us if we could speak a bit more quietly as she's in a meeting. We were very shocked and didn't know how to react - we were just like "ok whatever", however this is a cafe where people should be able to enjoy themselves.

Fat Cat obviously prioritises digital nomads drinking 1 coffee over hours and hours instead of patrons going out and having a good time with friends.

Oh and the third time, the coffee was burnt - honestly wasn't worth the hype and very overpriced for...

Today, at around 8:15 in the morning, I stopped by this coffee house and ordered 2 coffees, and 1 bagel with guacamole on top. Coincidentally, two English speaking foreigners stepped in to the restaurant and made their order. Long story short, I waited 20 minutes for my bagel with guacamole, and got served AFTER the English speaking foreigners got their big breakfasts. Upon speaking to the employees to show my discomfort, 1 told me that the toaster would not heat. Upon hearing such a preposterous excuse, I spoke to the other employee, who made a deep apology to me.

About the food: the coffee was strong and good. The bagel with guacamole, really was not all that great.

All people need to be respected and be attended to, with the order in...

While the area is known for their coffee, this was unfortunately the worst I've tasted in the trip. My iced latte was really bitter, and the chocolate chip cookie I bought with it wasn't what I was really hoping for. I like my cookies on the softer side and this one looked thick, but didn't have the texture or flavor I was expecting. The chocolate chips were really what saved it from going in the trash. I'm sure I caught a bad brew since the place seemed packed, and with other things on the menu, there is definitely more to judge this place on than just this experience. However, with the number of other restaurants around, we ended up finding...

Our usual routine: order a cappuccino as a base of comparison.Compared to cappuccinos we have tried around the world, the espresso is less strong, but rather rich with aroma and flavour. The cappuccino costed us Q19 for petite and Q23 for grande - a tad higher than other coffee joints around the area. The latte art is amazing and barista took the time in making the cute art without asking. We love how the ladies and gents working there are super nice and willing to answer all our pesky questions in English. WiFi is good once connected. No AC, but you won't need it in the morning.

I had a lot of coffee in Antigua and Panajachel and I had to buy a hat from Fat Cat to express how good this place was. You can get a lot of amazing coffee around here (shout out to Hidden Coffee in Pana) but Fat Cat takes the cake! Their Japanese Iced Coffee was perfect (I had 3), and their flat whites are excellent. It's a good place to sit and drink coffee for a while in the middle of Antigua. I was able to take a meeting video call with no issues. Breakfast is solid too but you come here for the coffee.

In short: the coffee and matcha is really good, the food rather average. When we went there they didn’t have half of the breakfast menu, so there wasn’t much to choose from. We ordered the typical Guatemalan breakfast and “the boss” bagel. The typical Guatemalan breakfast was OK, but the cream served with it tasted like mayonnaise and I really ate the same thing around the corner and it was way better (in a place which is not 4.7).
