I went here during the afternoon, hoping to taste some of the local beer, and this restaurant did not disappoint. I ordered the mixed fish and chips and a mojito and they were both delicious. They have a sampler of 4 oz. servings of six different beers to give you an idea of what you'd want to drink for the night. Pro-tip: Always ask for rooftop seating as it is quite breathtaking.
VIEW: 5/5 The rooftop view gives way to the roofs of the surrounding buildings, but you're high enough that it is not obstructed. You can see the Arco de Santa Catalina from your seat. The most magnificent part is the volcano in the background that slowly fades away as the night takes over. I recommend getting here an hour before sunset so you can view the sun set behind the cordillera.
WAIT STAFF: 5/5 Very friendly and attentive. Will answer all questions you have. They always have at least two or three employees on the roof and it's super easy to get their attention. CLEANLINESS: 5/5 The bathrooms are lovely and the place was in good repair, regardless of its colonial structure. PRICE: 5/5 Super affordable. An entrée will set you back...
Read moreThe place itself was pleasant, with a variety of comfortable seating areas and friendly staff. However it was badly let down by the quality of the beers which were totally undrinkable. I tried an IPA, and my wife a pale. Both had a very strong phenolic flavour. This has almost certainly arisen due to the use of a chlorine based sanitiser not being adequately rinsed from the brewing vessels and / or the kegs. This chlorine then reacts with the naturally occurring phenols derived from the malt and hops to from trichlorophenol, which gas a very low flavour threshold. Nobody wants to drink TCP flavoured beer. Even the most basic of quality control procedures should have caught this problem and these beers should never have been allowed to be served to the public. This is an extremely easy problem to solve, and if it is this could be a great bar. Currently, based upon my experience this is not somewhere that I would...
Read moreWe have never been treated as poorly by the staff in any place in all Antigua. Juan Francisco was the name of the waiter. First he had half the terrace free and wouldnt accomodate us as he said that portion wasnt open yet. When we finally sat down in a table amidst a very crowded portion of the terrace we ordered coctails. The coctails came back badly served and the glasses were dirty and the quantity were miserable. We pointed this out to him and he said that is the way they serve them and if we didnt like it we could leave. I told him that was an awful way of treating clients and that we would be returning out coctails and ordering beer. He responded in a terrible manner and said that he would not be bringing more drinks for us to return. After this we asked to talk to the manager to what he replied there was no one with a higher rank than him around. We are never coming back thanks to the poor...
