Amid the hustle and bustle of the castle area during peak hours, we were fortunate to find this spot to sit and enjoy a meal. We waited around 10 minutes for a table for eight—which, given the busy surroundings, was quite lucky.
The food arrived promptly, with the exception of a couple of portions of fries that only reached the table midway through the meal. However, the staff handled it well and didn’t charge us for the delay, which we appreciated. Overall, the food was solid—not particularly extraordinary, but flavorful and satisfying.
The staff were both polite and humorous, adding a friendly touch to the experience. We were seated at a corner table that wasn’t fully covered by sun blinds, and as the sun intensified, it became a bit uncomfortable. Fortunately, the staff noticed and mentioned they were planning to install an additional blind for the summer season.
We paid about €20 per person, which felt reasonable considering the prime location. All in all, I would recommend this place—especially for groups—if you’re looking for a decent meal and a pleasant atmosphere...
Read moreGot here without the ability to check Google reviews so it was a bit of a gamble. First the obvious, the food isn't good. The fries are most likely frozen from the supermarket and very mushy and bland. The pork chop I had was severely overcooked, generally hard as a brick, part of the underside of it actually burnt. If this place wasn't so close to the Matthias church it would go bankrupt in no time and I can totally see it on Gordon Ramsay to find out everything is microwaved and/or cooked by a monkey. The service was okay, they did try to upsell me some salad etc but not to the point that it bothered me so it gets 2 stars because of that and also because the place is quite pretty (it's got a Swiss chalet style with the flowers and the checked table clothes). Overall I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here but maybe stopping for a beer is okay or try something that require near-zero cooking skills...
Read moreWe actually ate there twice during our stay in Budapest at the Hilton. The food was very good, the wait staff was attentive and helpful, and the location is right in the heart of the castle district. I had the "pancake" appetizer (essentially a Hungarian burrito) and the pork and pork belly. Both were delightful! My wife had the fisherman stew as an appetizer and the duck. Very fresh, perfectly cooked, and delicious. Our second visit I had the meat skewer with the onion potato as a side. The meats were cooked well, the onion was fresh and tender and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife had the Hungarian lavosh (very similar to ratatouille) with bread and their potatoes. Very flavorful with good bites of sausage and hearty chunks of veggies. The wine list is pretty good. We had a bottle of sweet white the first night, and a dry Riesling the second night. Both were good and...
