First off, there seems to be a bunch of bad reviews about this place, the sentiment of which I do not share. Many are older, and I think that may have something to do with it, others seemingly serial fault-finders. I hope my review takes the edge of the whining of others.
After a lengthy stroll around the Castle Hill and Fishermen's Bastion, we were sorely in need of some food and refreshment. We were seated politely - all six of us - and quickly brought menus. Truth be told, all we wanted was a bowl of the soup and a beer / coffee, which is what we ordered. Those around u were a bit more adventurous, but I have to say, it all looked lovely and I wishes that I'd not settled for the soup.
The beer was great and the soup splendiferous; really very tasty; the bread that came with it perhaps my only gripe - a bit of yesterday added to the meal perhaps, though soaked in the soup it was lovely. Prices weren't so bad either for a place situated where it is - in the heart of tourist-town.
And off! Rejuvenated, we took to the streets once more.....so energized, we didn't even use the...
Read moreThe place looks nice and the atmosphere is good, the place to eat is inside and drinks is outside, the waitress is very nice but the waiter is very rude and condescending. It seems to me that he asked me many times about the things I was ordering in a very condescending manner and I literally had to repeat the word “water” and “dessert” at least 3 times. I asked about the bill and the dessert since I had been waiting longer for it than to the main dish and he said “the dessert is coming… you can pay or wait” in a very rude and challenging way. I wouldn’t recommend it. Edit: Since I can’t answer the reply I want to comment that the reviews you get as a restaurant is for you to improve, not to argue with customers, also keeping in mind that you have gotten many comments about the waiter and this was not only my impression. Moreover, mentioning he attended the table many times as an “special request” is really overreaching. Your reply leaves a lot to desire as...
Read moreVery enjoyable food, yummy dessert wine, friendly and patient service, and convenient location with indoor and outdoor seating a few minutes walk from the famous church and Fisherman’s Bastion.
The pizza was sizable and had a nice chewy/crunchy medium-thick crust (without blacked parts which I dislike). We got the Hungarian pizza, not exactly the langos made with fried dough but the toppings were similar to what we saw at langos stands. They also had other unique options like Greek pizza as well as standbys like margherita and Hawaiian.
I was pleasantly surprised that the fried Camembert (texture like baked Brie inside and outside like fried mozzarella) came with a few slices of fruit (edible and decorative) as well as yummy blackberry jam and deliciously buttery rice.
Try the local dessert wine too - so sippable and pleasant after a full great meal. My mom loves sweet wines and said this is her all-time...
