We had pre purchased the most comprehensive tasting packages they offered online for a special occasion with a group, after closely looking at the options online and also emailing with their corporate team. Sadly, there was a significant disconnect between what was advertised on GetYourGuide and what their team told us over email, versus what actual staff in the establishment were able to deliver, and the seven item tasting we had purchased was only possible for those having wine and not palinka. The team on the ground insisted on charging full price, and the team back in the office only redirected us to GetYourGuide and were also not willing to help. It’s a real shame as the tasting, even though light on content with just someone telling you what you were drinking rather than really guiding you through in greater detail, was good. The products were good and portions generous, and the cheese and charcuterie plates were also very enjoyable and nicely put together. It was a lively activity for the group that was simply overshadowed by the poor service and handling of the situation. If planning a visit here, I’d recommend buying through GetYourGuide. During our visit to the Palinka Museum in Budapest after a day at the Szechenyi Thermal Baths, we were fortunate to meet a brilliant bartender 🍑🍒🍐🥃✨️ Although his name escaped me, and I can only describe him as a guy with dark hair and glasses on, but his intelligence and fluent English made the experience truly memorable 🫶🏼

The museum impressed us with a nice exhibition and selection of Palinka, but the bartender's exceptional knowledge and communication skills stood out as he shared fascinating insights into Hungary's history, culture, and his personal perspectives 🤓

His intelligent digressions added depth to our conversations (with my partner we stayed there over 2 hours!) and provided a unique and enriching experience. Despite not remembering his name, we greatly appreciated his commitment to fostering cultural exchange!

VERY UNFRIENDLY PLACE WITH RUDE STAFF. We were walking down the street and saw the “museum” sign and decided to walk inside and take a look and have some shots. No one greeted us inside so we just walked in and proceeded to the shop. Out of no where two very rude bar tenders started screaming at us “where do you think you going?! Instead of “welcome! Would you like to come inside and take a look or have a drink or visit the museum?”. We were so shocked by such unfriendly welcome so we walked right outside and had the best time across the street at Piana Vyshnia (highly recommend!). Note to the owner: please teach your staff how to treat your customers and since your shop is located inside the “museum” have some one tell people that to shop you need to first pay money to enter the shop.
