Rumpus Tiki Bar — Restaurant in Budapest

Let me tell you my story about this place and how can one person ruin your day.

I came with my wife for our last night in Budapest. I scheduled for Sunday at 22:00, 21.4.2025 I was waiting to this evening for the entire week!

My wife can’t drink because she was pregnant but she knows how much i love cocktails so she was excited with me too.

We entered, saw a lady’s dancing and such a great atmosphere!! I was like WOW, what a cool place, the music, the vibe, it’s exactly what i wanted.

A guy took us upstairs and gave us the worst place for two, at the end of the upper floor.

My wife sat at a weird huge chair, 7 months pregnant & half disabled woman 152 cm tall - her legs could not get to the floor, but luckily we saw an empty table for two with normal chairs

And then the horror started with the Waiter at the upper floor. Only thing i remember is that he had glasses.

I politely asked him if can we move. He said “No” and kept walking (i swear to god, not even “sorry” or “let me check for you”) I walked with him and said “look, this table for two next to us is empty” and he said “it’s a reservation”. I started to be sarcastic at this point. I said “someone reserved this specific table?” And he said “yes” and walked away. I was a bit angry but i said to myself OK, he is nit a nice person and that it.

1 minutes passed and as i sat with my wife he went by, so i asked him again: “Look man you got to help us, my wife’s feet can’t even get to the floor at this chair”

Then he started to yell at me: “What do you think?! If everyone will ask to move to another table then everyone will start running all over here!”

I swear on my mother’s life. Word by word!

Then my wife used the pregnant card and showed him her belly. He said sorry and went to talk to the manager. Came back and said “ok you can sit at the other table”.

When he came back i was already too frustrated to stay even one more second at this place.

My wife asked me if Im sure that i want to go after i waited to come to this place for so long.

I told her “i was never so sure in my life” and took her...

This place gets a 5 on decoration. Avoid the secret cocktails, and if you are a person who would like more than one cocktail don't go there!.

I wasn't able to get in there on my first trip because of the reservations, so I was excited to reserve a spot up ahead on my second trip to Budapest.

As an ex bartender I was going for their secret cocktails, asked for something with Angostura bitters, bitter and sour. Got an out of balanced drink with huge amount of sugar syrup that Burned my throat, wasn't drinkable, also it didn't have Angostura bitters inside which I specifically asked. I complained and they returned it to me, same cocktail just with a lot more ice.... ( I would never serve something like that to any of my guests), that was so disrespectful.

Also by the time they served me the "fixed" drink,, I was asked to vacant my seat...

To the place I recommend Taste what you make, If someone e complain about out of balanced drink, make a new one, don't add ice and send it back to him. And above all respect your customer and if he asks for something specifically, put it inside!

I will return to Budapest a lot more, just not to this place. And they probably won't need me to judging by their huge...
