I was certain I had already shared my love for this extraordinary restaurant, but it seems I hadn't, and I simply can't keep this gem a secret any longer! Nestled in the vibrant Pest side of Budapest, this place has quickly become one of our all-time favorites. A word to the wise – make sure to reserve a table in advance; it's definitely worth the planning!

The moment you step inside, you're transported into a world where literature meets culinary art. The book-themed ambiance is nothing short of enchanting, creating an atmosphere that's both sophisticated and cozy. Each visit feels like a new chapter in a delightful gastronomic story.

Now, let's talk about the food – "amazing" barely does it justice. Every dish is a masterpiece, blending traditional flavors with innovative twists that surprise and delight the palate. The chefs here are true artists, and their passion for food shines through in every bite.

And the wine pairing – oh, the wine pairing! It's evident that each selection is thoughtfully chosen to complement the dishes, enhancing the flavors and elevating the entire dining experience. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just enjoy a good glass, you're in for a treat.

In summary, if you're in Budapest and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this is the place to go. Exceptional food, enchanting themes, and impeccable service – all reasons why I'm giving this restaurant an easy 5 stars. Don't miss out on this culinary treasure...

If you love reading, creativity and food... make reservations, ask what book they will be serving and do your reading before you get there.

One of the absolute best and unique dining experiences. I had planned a trip to Budapest a couple months before and for my wife's birthday made reservations here. I bought her the book that was to be done for the 5-course book meal and told her she needed to read it before we left for our trip. She had no idea why.

She was so surprised by the meal and concept. Our dinner conversation was so rich with each dish and discussing the book with each other.

We did the wine parings as well and had all Hungarian wines and the server was so gracious in telling us about the different regions and types of wines as we knew so little. Even letting us taste another wine that wasn't part of the menu. We asked where we could buy one of the wines and he wrote it down for us and we bought a bottle a couple of days later.

Even if you don't love the dish, the fun conversation and the unique experience is worth it. But don't get me wrong, the food is extremely delicious.

The restaurant is warm and beautiful with books everywhere.

I follow their website to see the different book menus just because it is so fun. This is an absolute must for every one of our future visits to Budapest.

The absolute...

Cute place trying to be fine-dining but the food and wine pairing doesn’t live up to the expectations.

Concept, service and plating are very good (4 stars). The food itself was mediocre at best and the wine pairing didn’t complement the food at all (2 stars).

We had the Lord of the Rings menu: the Gorgonzola starter was creative and surprisingly light which was positive. The mackerel that followed was served with a huge amount of potatoes and was overall a bit plain. The rabbit tasted good but was dry and the vegetables that came along didn’t match. The palette cleanser ice cream was way too heavy and creamy - it felt like a dessert. The main course (tenderloin) was overcooked (almost well done) and even had a bit of a burnt crust. The crisps that came along with the beef were soggy and chewy in the sauce and mash (again potato). The chocolate dessert was very heavy in orange sour and sweet sauce and the sweet wine wasn’t a good pairing either as it’s an overkill.

I am very sorry to say it but this restaurant does not deserve a rating of 4.7. The food looks amazing and has the right texture too but there is a big BUT, the taste of the food is just a bit above average. Not to mention that the avocado in the starter was very bitter and the beef carpacio didn't go very well with the sauce and onions, the taste of the dish didn't really blend... At the end you will have a confusing after taste that makes you wonder if someone did a mistake. With a rating that high and pricey food ( around 60 euro for one starter, two main dishes and two beers) it is my biggest disappointment in Budapest. The staff serving was polite and a good host, but this doesn't matter if the quality of the food does not match with the service. I would not recommend this place at all, there are a lot of good choices in Budapest if you want to have great food and not just to have some experience that looks like fine dining but does not match it.

A place I would gladly go back to. The clean, modern library-like design of the restaurant is very calming and inviting (the music not so much unfortunately. Actually, quite the opposite and it doesn't suit the atmosphere, but oh well..). The food was well made and I could feel the the chef new what they were doing. Sweet and creamy chestnut soup was out of this world. I expected it to have a hint of nutty sweetness, and not an almost puddingy sweetness. I had another surprise to find out it was cold. Both surprises were good ones and I really enjoyed the unusual and beautiful starter. For main course I had duck breast with pumpkin purée and prunes. The meat was done to a perfect medium-rare and was juicy and full of flavours. Add to that the sweetness of the pumpkin and the sweet&sourness of the prunes and you got a delightful, well crafted dish. My friend had a goulash soup for stater and chicken paprika for main and they were beautifully made as well.
