Laffa — Restaurant in Budapest

A M A Z I N G. I can't stress how good this is. I've been to so many places, and I rarely find such authentic shawerma brothers. This is absolute beauty. The service was nice. I came at a very off time almost midnight, so they had to take 5 mins to prepare it. I waited outside because, unfortunately, the areas were pretty small and hot. Also, it was pretty late, and a lot of men were inside. I was a woman alone, so I waited outside. I think the server noticed. I'm guessing his name was kareem, and he came put to ask what I'd like in my order, which is service I don't get everywhere. Anyways I went in and asked for what I like. Basic old arab shwerma with pickles and garlic sauce. Except I forgot to say fries, so when I did much later on, he made me a fresh batch then and there. Highly appreciated. The servers are nice and friendly between themselves and I imagine they speak a lot of languages. I can't tell you how nice it is to find a halal place. Unfortunately, there's a scarcity for them. Very unforunate acutally. A lot of places never even heard of halal whenever you ask, which is borderline embarrassing, seeing as so many tourists come here. Even asking for kosher is like asking something extremely forigein to them. Anyways that's another story. I'm grreaful i found this place. The food is good. I'm sure you've already read the reviews. Most of the bad ones happen on delivery, so i guess, just go there and get it. Amazing food. Amazing experience. Highly recommend. One of, if not the most nicest people I have met during my trip here in Hungary!! Gigi and I had great conversation, very easy to talk to. He is such a kind soul. We got along too well that I did not give him a chance to start cooking my mothers food 😆

Food was amazing (is what my mother says). I second this as I have never EVER seen my mother finish a full meal from eating out, ANYWHERE. Almost makes me want to try the food as well!

It was a bit dirty but oh well, it must be hard to run a place that attracts so much foot traffic! If there were more employees it might be helpful (maybe to help ease the workload and maybe help to upkeep cleanliness). Regardless this was not a big deal at all.

Good people, good food, good conversation. What more can you ask for? 😊❣️

UPDATE: The last time I went he thankfully had more workers helping him and the restaurant was wayyyy more upkept than before. But still think Gigi makes the best food out of everyone there haha 😆. Also who cares about hygiene.. when the food is so good you forget about...

Saw 4.9 stars on the reviews and decided to try it out because normally 4.9 stars is an amazing place to visit. The server was the best part of the whole experience and from there it went downhill. Firstly the place itself is really dirty, still decided to give it a try because of the reviews but after ordering it took approximately 20 to 25 minutes to get our food. My companian choose for a loaded potatoes but first time i see a loaded potatoes being smashed to infinity, was more a mashed potato with gyros on top. I ordered a shawarma and was let down, have had in the past in other countries and this was not even close. Secondly the gyros was tasteless and was served cold and some salt would go a long way. The garlic sauce was also missing flavour, did not try the joghurt sauce. On top of all this everything was just microwaved which was already a red flag but we had paid already. Would not recommend and save your money, just try your luck...
