Update:
Thank you for your subjective, supportive opinion too! 1."HE" did arrive around 7pm on Wednesday, but there were only 1 or 2 reserved tables in the restaurant, and the rest were empty. 2.“HE”smiled and greeted the lady but she ignored .After a while she said coldly that couldn't eat without a reservation. After leaving, "HE" did try to book a reservation, but you didn't put up any information or links about making reservation(if you think it's so important to make reservation,It's so funny.) Original
I was refused entry by a lady with medium to long hair simply because I didn’t have a reservation. This was during off-peak hours, and the restaurant had plenty of empty tables. It was clear she just didn’t want to deal with more guests. If your restaurant truly requires reservations, you should at least provide a clear link for booking on Google or your website which, of course, you don’t.
So the reservation is just an excuse, your waiter just wants to serve the customers she doesn't want to serve.
I’ve lived in Budapest for six years, and this is the first time I’ve encountered a restaurant with such an unwelcoming attitude. If you’re looking to be humiliated for no reason, this is the...
Read moreI'm giving this place a solid 5* rating besides minor niggles. The wine list is not extensive or particularly high class but there is a good price by the glass and bottles not too much either. The wine was served in a basic glass, but hey, this was a basic Carbernet, not a fine wine. I continued to enjoy a glass or three of Cabernet Sauvignon without worrying later about the glass. The lamb soup starter was tasty and pleasant but not special. The goose leg main was delicious and better than many confit duck legs I have had, including recently elsewhere in Budapest. The "baked potatoes" to accompany the goose were, happily rustic chips. The whole place has a rustic feel about it, homely, natural. The dessert was a show stopper for me. I took a photo for Google Maps. If you like dark chocolate, then this pancake is for you! I would definitely go back. Not a high flying place with a fancy wine list but definitely worth...
Read moreReally wanted to give this restaurant a try as we a family of 5 on holiday in Budapest wanted to give the local dish a try. We arrive at 6pm when they open for evening service as we were told yesterday when we walked past. The restaurant already had 2 tables in use , we were greeted with a member of staff and I raised my hand eagerly and said “ table for 5 please “. She replied that they were fully booked and within 20 minutes the place would be packed. We turn around bit disappointed and filled our stomach with some sushi elsewhere which was surprisingly good. 1 hour later we return to haček to reserve a table for the next evening and we were SHOCKED . The place was … wait for it EMPTY!!! We are a Chinese family brought up in London , don’t know the reason why we were turned away but this is my account of what happened good luck if you want to give this...
