I am absolutely lost for words. This was simply outstanding. If you don't want to read my full review then know this: I have never eaten a better meal. This was the most outstanding meal of my life.
I have lived in Italy for years and eaten some amazing dishes in my life, honestly. Food is my life and is something that I value the most in my travels. But Pörc & Prézli has surpassed my wildest expectations.
We ordered the duck liver starter to share which was rich and a great way to get our appetite going for the rest of the meal. I ordered Chicken Paprikash which when I have had it t other places in Budapest, has had chewy dumplings. Not here. They were pillowy soft. A little like gnocchi. The sauce was wonderfully balanced too. My partner ordered the beef cheek with yellow plumb sauce. This was exceptional. It paired phenomenally well with the meat. Then we had the Hungarian Jewish cake. Whilst completely full from the main course, I found I still managed to find room for the rich, but not overly so, dessert. The portions were generous also, you wouldn't leave here feeling hungry.
All of this by the way, with the most gorgeous live band playing in the background. The violin and cimbalom were singing. Between the music and the food, I had to stifle back a tear. The waiters were kind, courteous, generous... a little cheeky (in a funny, friendly and endearing way!). It made the experience all the more welcome. I didn't feel like another tourist there, I felt welcome.
Ladies and gentlemen... I unreservedly give 5/5 stars for this restaurant.

Read morePörc & Prézli Étterem serves excellent traditional Hungarian food and we had one of the best meals from the whole trip. The service was also very good and our waiter was friendly and very helpful with the menu. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the prices very reasonable. Each dish was exceptional with unique and comforting flavors and attention was given to detail which I appreciated.
From the dishes we got:
Pancake filled with minced meat in paprika sour cream sauce which was my favorite dish. The pancake was so soft that melted in the mouth and the meat inside was tender and full of flavor. The sauce was more than enough perfect for dipping in some bread.
Pork rissole with quail eggs and fermented cucumber was also a grate choice with unique flavor.
Duck liver with brioche and sour cherry sauce was also good but not for me cause I don’t like liver.
Chicken paprikash with dumplings and sour cream. I really loved the sauce and the dumplings and it was one of my favorite dishes.
Pork tanderloin with creamy paprika sauce, smoked bacon. The meat was so tender and the sauce very tasty.
Viennese pork schnitzel with parsley potatoes. Easily one of the best schnitzels I’ve ever had. Perfect breaded and fried and the potatoes were delicious as well.
Beef cheek stew with red wine, bread dumplings. This dish was rich in flavor and the meat was melting in the mouth. The bread dumplings were addicting.
Overall I loved this place and is a must visit if you happen to be...
Read moreThis is the restaurant I was most looking forward to during our three-day Budapest visit. I call it Hungarian food with a modern twist and flavor difference to set this place apart from any typical restaurant. We enjoyed our visit, and this will be the first place we will go when we return to Budapest. Everyone working at PPE was fantastic and made great food even better with their humor and smiles. I believe our server was Nudci?, and he was awesome. The lead manager was Gabor?, and he cracked me up with his wit and ability to make cool things with napkins right before us.
The FOOD: The Pancake filled with minced meat in paprika sour cream sauce appetizer is delicious and a home run. Make sure you order one for each person at the table. Our second favorite dish was the Chicken paprikash with dumplings and sour cream. The Chicken and flavor were fantastic. We would have skipped the Gnocchi only because the chicken dish had similar dumplings. We had a beef tenderloin dish that was also very tasteful. Also reasonable price on a French Cab red wine and it was really good.
We are just finishing up a three-month Foodie tour of Europe that started in Spain, moved to Italy and Switzerland, and now is in Budapest. This is one of only a dozen restaurants that get a MUST COME BACK status for us. It was unique in its authenticity, food, and the awesome people who work there and made our night a memorable...
