An other great place to stay - it's getting to be too many.
The location is ideal, 5 minute walk from the metro station, shops and restaurants are within 5 minute walk, parlament building is 10 minutes (other metro line)... Etc.
Prior communication was very quick and smooth, I had to change my room which was done within the hour of the email I sent (!) as I wanted to avoid phoning. Very impressive...
Check in process was smooth and effortless, the staff all seemed to be very pleasant, especially the lady who checked us in (assuming she was the manager on duty).
The hotel lifts are easy to find and they return to the ground floor by default. This little feature should be applied worldwide! It's really a small programming feat and makes everything easier.
Hotel President have wellness and gym facilities, where the gym is open all day for residents. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try the wellness, and the swimming pool was undergoing some maintenance.
The rooms are well decorated and well equipped with fridge, air-conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, a small TV (supports screen share), armchair and plenty of cupboard space. Beds were nice and comfy with cozy towels and good pressure in the shower. I don't think I have to mention that everything was spotless.
Dining is done on the famous rooftop restaurant and bar, but make sure you reserve a table, it's busy (as expected). We gave it a miss as we had other places to be, but there are a lot of amazing restaurants within walking distance. Again, if you're here for a few days, it's something to experience, even for a drink, as the view is breathtaking.
Breakfast is served on the -1 floor near the wellness. Selection is great and plenty, everybody can find something to start the day with. It was lovely to see some Hungarian classics (mákos guba, lecsó, kolbász, tepertő)... Etc. If you don't know what those mean, you have to try them all...
There is the artizan cafe next to the hotel, famous their cakes and bakery. Unfortunately we were full to try it out, but it looked well worth stopping by for lunch. Next time!
Overall a great place to stay. I wouldn't recommend what we did - staying just the 1 night. If we'd have the time, we'd stay a few...
Read moreThe room was so hot we couldn't sleep, in winter!
And by hot I mean 26-27 degrees hot, we had to have the hotel room door open for a few hours in the middle of the night to cool the room. The mattresse's ( Two singles put together for some reason ) were also really thin and either ancient or cheap.
It would have been fine if the room had at least windows but there is no airflow causing the room to be no different to a suffocation chamber.
My partner called reception at 11pm to tell them we were too hot and the answer they gave was "we don't provide cooling in winter".
Had to call them again around 1-2am as we could not sleep.
The whole point of a hotel room is to sleep so I asked to either change to a cooler room or a fan or something. They finally got us a noisy dirty fan which barely worked (hence we ended up having to sleep with the hotel room door open).
We were supposed to stay 3 nights but in the morning we called our holiday organizer and asked for a refund. The organizer called the hotel reception to ask if they could do something about the room before having to cancel and they called us back saying that the hotel would not do anything about our room being too hot.
Only on checkout ( after our organizer cancelled the remaining 2 nights ) did they offer any sort of remediation (room upgrade) that we refused as by then we had booked something else already.
I ended up having little to no sleep a back ache due to the terrible mattress and indigestion.
We booked an apartment nearby which was cheaper, had a better mattress and had a view on the River with adjustable heating and windows.
The breakfast was included and honestly average for a hotel, we also had spa but the main swimming pool was closed ( which they hadn't informed us of ).
I would have given them one star if it wasn't for the reception lady that seemed lovely and looked like she was about to cry when we refused the room upgrade.
the hotel is pretty and the Location is the best part of it but if you're planning to actually sleep at night I recommend you find...
Read moreWe bought a voucher for 2nights stay at Hotel President. It was presented as a wellness stay in Budapest. The location is very good in very hearth of Pest part of the city just few steps from St. Stephens Basilica. The first impression is awesome, reception is just wonderful and receptionist was very nice. Then it was a bit problem to find our room (I think it might be a good idea to improve navigation inside of the hotel) but the cleaning lady helped us to find an elevator and then she made sure we will make it to our room. Wellness is again marked very poorly but there was nobody at the reception. No way how to get to keys from lockers even how and where to take sheets/blanket for SPA. I also went to a main reception but lady wasn't able to help me. At least there were some paper cups for water which was luckily also available. Next day I had to head back to our room to take cups from there because nothing left there. Then there comes another disappointment as the pool was empty, whir-pool out of order and only one sauna was working - so this was our experience of their SPA center In general rooms are very small but comfy, only with one detail that we were missing small pillows which we actually asked for but there were not delivered during whole day. I found our blankets with several stains, which is not a big issue, but probably shouldn't happen in 4* hotel. The bathroom was nice and clean but a bit humid, I think of better ventilation if there was any at all. Breakfast were just good standard , there is nothing to blame. Hotel offers also a rooftop bar/restaurant which we tried but we took only a welcome drink and then head to the city. The potential is great, view is amazing but the place as such didn't impress us that much, in fact we didn't feel very comfy there. To conclude, we really enjoyed our stay in Budapest, but next time we would rather choose a different hotel or maybe a combination of Airbnb and good...
