Smokey Monkies BBQ — Restaurant in Budapest

I rarely write bad reviews, I just simply don't go to a place anymore. But this was bad. We arrived there around 8-9 PM. Once we made our order, which was an XXL mixed plate and a beef box, we regretted it. As they opened the meat covers you could see they had barely any types of meat left (not even mentioning why didn't they say anything about it before we ordered a mixed plate...) and the coleslaw looked like it has been there for days. I still wanted to stay optimistic. They handed the beef box when they realized they accidentally gave two sauces for that, and the worker just simply basically removed it form the tray after we got it. I have never seen anything like that. Raises the question that they want to pour it back to the sauce container, that they already gave to us, or they want to dispose it... I have never been to a restaurant where, when they made a mistake they would rather take it back and dispose than offering it to the customer as their mistake. That was rude. I would have even let this one go if the food is good. But the meat, the pulled pork and the beef was tasteless and soo dry! Such a disappointment. They made the greatest LOOKING burger I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into it. A brisket smash burger!? Give me all you got!

It was such a disappointment. Looked fantastic, tasted like bad fish. I systematically took the burger apart and found that it was the brisket.

I so looked forward to good brisket. But it was so incredibly bad. You just can’t imagine. I gave some to my daughters who were with me just to see if it was just my taste buds. They both tasted the fish taste. One of them said it tasted like a crow and a fish had a baby.

Bun was great, bacon was awesome, slaw was okay, burger was really good. But the brisket. I really wish I had order just a burger. Couldn’t even eat half.

Don’t order the brisket smash burger if you go. I’m from Texas, the home of brisket bbq. So maybe I’m spoiled. But this brisket was just really bad. Really really bad. I didn’t know brisket could be bad!

If you're a tourist I suggest you think twice before coming here as the atmosphere is not friendly at all and the people who helped me and my partner acted as if we're bothering them. We sat down and starting looking through the menu, the food and reviews we saw before coming were good so we had a rough idea of what we wanted to order. However 2 things we wanted to order weren't on the list. Would of been great if we were informed about that as we took our menus.

The atmosphere was just really dry and not inviting at all, don't know if it's because we were tourist or what.

I then thought let me ask if there's maybe an ATM nearby, and they said they don't know.
