An absolute shocker of a bar. Me and my girlfriend made the unfortunate decision to visit on our last night in Budapest when looking for somewhere to have a casual last meal and a few drinks. We were greeted by a pleasant enough server at the door, and asked to sit at the bar where there was plenty of space. He left us to it, literally. We didn’t see him again after that.
We weren’t sure if it was table service or we were to order at the bar. It must’ve been getting on for 10 minutes, and the barman eventually asked us what we’d like. We ordered a beer and a glass of wine. 5 minutes later I got my beer, served a healthy dose under the 0.5l line. My girlfriend had to wait another 5 minutes for her wine, for some unknown reason. The place was about 1/3 capacity.
So we sat, listening to the terribly mixed DJ music in the lifeless bar, and eventually decided, since it was getting late and we were just out for a casual bite, we’d chance a burger and then head off. After trying to catch a few different servers eyes for a menu, we found one on a derelict table.
A lady behind the bar then asked how we’d like to pay for our drinks, and we mentioned we might like to sit at a table to get some food. We were then greeted with a scowl, a sigh and an eye roll, as if we’d just farted at a funeral. I said don’t worry, we’ll just get the bill, to which she retorted “no, no”, followed by more huffing and puffing.
After another 10 minutes we received neither an order for food or the bill. I eventually grabbed a barman and asked to pay. I had to laugh when he showed me the card machine and said “press one” - 10%, 15% or 20% tip. I’ve never had so much pleasure in hitting 0%. We promptly left for a lovely tapas place just up the alley. There also appeared to be some strange “No photos” rule inside. Presumably so there’s no hard evidence to back up the epilogue of lacklustre reviews. Avoid...
Read moreWhat truly elevated our experience was the service, spearheaded by Regina—our server for the evening. She greeted us with a friendly smile, immediately made helpful suggestions from the menu and cocktail list, and maintained perfect timing. While the venue had a dynamic, shifting atmosphere, Regina managed to balance attentiveness with unobtrusiveness: we never felt rushed, yet never felt neglected. Her professionalism stood out in a place that could easily become chaotic.
She recommended a couple of their signature cocktails (we appreciated the creativity) and offered thoughtful food pairings from the American‑Italian menu. Her familiarity with the dishes and willingness to explain ingredients was a welcome touch. Throughout our stay, she made sure our drinks were topped up, checked in just enough at the right moments, and left us to enjoy our evening. That kind of service made a big difference.
In summary: Klikk BistroBar is a strong choice for anyone exploring Budapest’s downtown nightlife but who still wants quality service, good food and drinks, and a smart atmosphere. If you get Regina as your server, you’ll feel truly in good hands. I’d happily return—and I’d recommend it to friends looking for a combination of fun and professional...
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COST - This is possibly the most disappointed and angriest I'd ever been left after any restaurant experience. Undercooked food, overpriced food (WAY TOO small portions), and the bar staff are possibly the most underqualified and confusing workers I've ever had the displeasure to witness.
We waited over 30 minutes for our drink order, by which point we'd already finished eating our disappointing food, and the bar staff were in no rush to finish ANYONE'S drink that night.
The only saving grace were our two waiters, who were both stressfully trying to manage a restaurant of very unhappy guests (all of whom were waiting for drinks or unhappy with their food - I speak Hungarian and English, though the staff didn't know this, so I was able to listen to the problems of the night).
The manager could not care less what problems we had, and even after our waiter mentioned to her what had happened, she just said to him that she didn't care. Then she continued to take our money (though thankfully I refused to pay for the drinks we never got in time), without a sorry, or any acknowledgement whatsoever.
STAY AWAY. BOYCOTT. I don't care. This place needs to be shut down, and I never say...
