We had high hopes for this restaurant, and while the service from Niko and Alexandra was truly outstanding—attentive, kind, and professional—the rest of the experience was deeply disappointing.
The food was overwhelmingly salty, even for someone who enjoys well-seasoned dishes. The meat dish, in particular, was incredibly tough and poorly cooked, making it nearly impossible to eat. When we politely shared this feedback with the chef, instead of addressing the issue, he dismissively insisted he disagreed, showing a level of arrogance that was both surprising and unacceptable. Given that no one at our table could eat the dish, this response was not only unhelpful but also disrespectful.
Adding to the disappointment, despite mentioning a birthday celebration in advance, there was no acknowledgment or special gesture from the restaurant. For the price we paid, we expected far better food quality and a more professional attitude from the kitchen. Unfortunately, this was a bad experience from start to finish, and we absolutely do not recommend...
Read moreWe’ve been here for breakfast as we’ve stayed in the hotel.
I had really high hopes due to the past reviews. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the evening we’ve been in town, so we went for breakfast. One bummer was the missing coffee machine, looking at the google reviews from the hotel it looked like they have a good barista. I assume these pictures are old as the North restaurant only serves filter coffee from a pump machine. When we asked for an alternative they offered to get a capsule coffee somewhere from the hotel, which was a nice gesture. For food we ordered the sourdough bread with tomatoes, mozzarella, fried egg and arugula the waffle with crème fraiche and berries🧇 you clearly see they put a lot of thought into the ingredients and dishes and everything is freshly made. However both dishes were completely cold which was a bit surprising as the waffles are made fresh. The taste was still good. Overall the food was tasty but since it was cold and you serve yourself from a pump coffee dispenser I wouldn’t go again...
Read morewe visited north restaurant for my fiancee's birthday and could not have had a better night
the service was truly amazing, each dish explained in detail, and each member of the staff paid full attention to their guests
we opted to do the wine pairing along with the menu, and that, too, was incredible
the wines that were chosen really did work well with each dish - for example - the vina herzanovi pinot noir had earthy undertones which matched so nicely with the lovage chimichurri in the pork belly dish
we have been to dill previously, maybe 1.5 years ago, this restaurant is associated with dill (same ownership?), and i have to say we enjoyed our experience here at north a little more
i did hear that dill recently made some changes, so we will have to revisit
the staff at north added a happy birthday note to my fiancee's menu and signed the back as well, a very nice touch which she loved, as an aspiring chef herself
incredible experience at north restaurant, if in akureyri and looking for a top of the line meal, definitely book...
