❖ Location- Can say hidden gem as it’s between fort and CST road just next to sterling theatre but very few people know about this restaurant though it’s there from almost 14 years.
❖ Theme- As you can see the name, they serve Cantonesefood in really royal way. You will get the wow and super fine dine feel as soon as you will enter. There are lot of certificates hanging as soon as you enter inside.
❖ Ambience- Superb guys just perfect for the kind of restaurant they have created in this many years. Dining areas are managed beautifully with square and round tables. Got small dining areas for private kind of area with 15-20 group of people. Got very good and comfortable sitting, lamps are very good. I can say total ambience is really high end.
❖ Staff- I would really like to mention that staff is at highest level. Starting from entering in the restaurant and till leaving the restaurant they are really helpful and ever smiling. Staff is so talented and well trained. Really impressive staff.
❖ Food and Beverage- As I mentioned this restaurant is there from 14 years so you can guess how the culinary standards of them will be. Food and beverage department was at highest level and really there is hardly anything that they need to improve. Everything was spot on. Table set up is something I was impressed with, pure fine dine set up.
Cranberry kiss(Mocktail)- A ever refreshing drink made with cranberry, mint, lime.(4/5)
Prawn and chive Dumpling- Guys first dish we ordered and it was a big hit. Prawns had good seasoning and chive was giving the twist. Covering was thin and juicy, not very dry which was really standout.(5/5)
Fried Prawn Cheung fun- Prawn tempura wrapped in a rolls made with rice flour, cournflour and then steamed to perfection. This dish is super addictive. Soft cover which is steamed and inside crispy fried prawns. Nailed it. I strongly recommend it.(5/5)
Steamed prawns with garlic- Prawns steamed and then topped with burnt garlic butter for a perfect prawns lovers dish. Prawns were juicy and flavour of garlic was balanced very well.(4.5/5) Scallop and Garlic Dumpling- A perfect filling of scallops and garlic steamed to the perfection. (4/5)
Cantonese style roast Duck- Duck roasted and served along with filo pastry, thick plum sauce, julienne of cucumber, julienne of spring onions. You have to make that by keeping duck, cucumber and spring onions on filo pastry then add plum sauce according to your taste buds and roll it and enjoy. Plum sauce was sweet and tangy and very good consistency. One of my all time favourite dish so yes it’s a must try.(5/5)
Sautéed Greens with Black Mushrooms- green vegetables tossed in light flavoured toss which had bok Choy, asparagus, shitake mushrooms.(4/5)
Steamed Chilean sea bass with ginger and Spring Onions Sea bass steamed and served with the medium thick sauce along with spring onions, bok Choy, peppers. Sea bass fillet was cut in 2-3 pieces and it was with skin which was semi crispy resulting in one of the best dish they have in the menu. (5/5)
Egg fried rice- A perfect starch to be ordered for your main course which was light.(4.5/5)
Mud cake with ice cream- Off course it was best after super delicious meal.(4/5)

Yay: Finally some authentic Chinese food (closest) Nay: Less vegetarian options.
I had almost started hating Chinese food that we get in India. It's the worst interpretation of what actually Chinese food is. I always found it too loud and forceful. Thank god for places like Royal China, which agree that Chinese food is not always red and hot. At Royal China, I have eaten one of the most authentic Chinese cuisine dishes in Mumbai. They seem so soulful, simple and tasty even though the complexity is making them is a lot. They clearly have more non vegetarian options, atleast from what I saw and this could be there one negative. Apart from that, we were a part of a fabulous dinner and this is what we ate:
Sesame Potato Toast - This dish was absolutely amazing! Melt-in-your-mouth soft potato wedges coated in sesame. Not only was the it beautifully cooked, the flavors were bang on! The mint sauce served with the dish was so yum, one could eat it directly. Highly recommended.
Truffle and Edamame dumplings - Exquisitely presented in small bamboo baskets. The dumplings were very tasty and perfectly cooked. Truffle, a fungi and Edamame, immature soybeans are integral parts of the Chinese or Cantonese cuisine that Royal China serves!
Blue Sea and Cranberry Kiss - Cranberry Kiss was the standout drink. A refreshing combo of cranberries, lime and mint. The fizzy drinks complimented the absolutely humongous dinner!
Steamed Prawns with Garlic - Steamed Prawns coated with copious amounts of burnt garlic butter made a perfect combination for prawn lovers. The Garlic was not overpowering and the prawns were flavorful.
Cambodian Basa in chilli Oil and Spring Onion - A fiery dish. The chilli oil had an oriental taste which was unique. The fish itself was well cooked with sizable portions.
Roast Pork Cheung Fun - Roasted pork wrapped in rolls made of rice flour and steamed. The soft steamed cover with the well cooked pork makes for a great dish. Another authentic Cantonese preparation.
Sautéed Greens with Black Mushroom - Vegetables tossed in smooth flavored sauce with asparagus, shiitake mushrooms and bok choy. A good dish for vegetarians visiting the restaurant.
Vegetable Soya Noodles Hong Kong Style - A solid noodle dish flavored in oriental sauce cooked with vegetables. The noodles were well cooked and the dish had a distinct flavor to it!
Steamed Buns with Custard - Only miss of the night. Go for the fried buns instead! The steamed buns with the dry custard made for a dull combination.
Honey Noodles with Ice-Cream - What a way to end a hearty meal! The Noodles were crisp! The ice-cream was lightly flavored! Noodles coated in generous amounts of honey. Absolute delight for people with a sweet tooth!
The staff at Royal China was at their best. Would like to specially mention Mr. Jeff who helped us throughout and made us feel extremely welcomed.
I recommend RC to all so called Chinese food lovers. You should ditch all your old places and come for a grand meal here.

Read moreWhat do you call a restaurant which has maintained the standards of its deliverables, serves food which draws its patrons back to the restaurant, has gone from strength to strength over a 14 year period and has carved a niche for itself in its segment?
I can think of two words, “ICONIC” and “LEGENDARY”.
Royal China is the flagship brand from Mr. Nevilla Vazifdar who also owns Jia – The Oriental Kitchen and the KUAI Kitchen thus completing a triad of sorts. All three restaurants seem that they offer the same food but as they say “God is in the details”; they have different offerings. Where Royal China excels itself in Cantonese cuisine, Jia is more of Pan-Asian fine dine and KUAI focusses on the popular food items and has a lot of gravies in its menu.
If Jia is a benchmark in terms of service and scored maximum points, Royal China is the place where it all stated. If Jia is the next big ticket foal touted to win accolades, Royal China is the steed whose genes Jia has inherited.
Service is one thing which sets Royal China apart from its nearest competitor by miles. The standards of service and taste set over a period of time have been fanatically adhered to and followed thus ensuring a very fulfilling dining experience. Jeff, the Manager of the restaurant, bonded immediately due to his jovial nature. He took it upon himself to order for us after enquiring about our preference, aversions and allergies, if any.
The food started arriving one after the other in quick succession & the table was full in a few minutes. This is unusual for reviewers / bloggers who take their own time taking photos and then sampling the food. It was then Jeff explained that the Cantonese people serve all the starters as when they are ready & not one after the other. They also love to fill up their table with food. On our request, the flow was slowed down and we could click pictures at our leisure.
The ambience is elegant to say the least. The entire restaurant has been done with arts and artefacts to give a look and feel of the Orient. The furniture is all wooden and lighting is dim agai n the focus of the lighting is the food hence the surrounding looks dark. Each table is nicely laid out and the prominent feature is the presence of golden serving spoon beside each plate. I could not understand the usage of this spoon and hence asked Jeff. He willingly obliged to explain that it is kept so that each guest can serve himself / herself without dipping the spoon with which they are eating into the food and thus avoid offending others on the table.
