Though we lived just about half a Km, somehow we have missed visiting this hidden gem on the M G Road, Besant Nagar all these days. Our first visit happened just a couple of days and our experience left us wondering how we missed out this cute restaurant with simple but elegant ambiance, offering excellent pure vegetarian food!
I started with a mint mojito -superbly soothing-and my son chose the lime drink which he said was very good.
We decided to go for the combo meals. My wife chose Biryani Combo, son chose Kothu Combo and I,always fond of south Indian meal, opted for the rice combo. The food took a while to be served which is understandable as it is a small restaurant with limited hands in the kitchen.
When the food arrived it more than justified the waiting. Each tasted a morsel of the other two combos and it was a difficult decision which topped- kothu or Briyani. But succuent Paneer Tikka which was on he side of Biryani Combo tiled the scale in its favour. Potato fry and Gobi Manchuri are top class too.
As a south indian meal lover,my meal wont be complete without customary curds. When I hesitantly asked the friendly and courteous Amit Dutt for curds,he readily agreed to give it,though its is not part of the rice combo.
All the three combos came with well-made gulabjamun as dessert.
On the whole our first visit to Sanmith has been highly satiating and satisfying too.
While Amit Dutt is the Captain managing the floor his brother Samit Dutt manages the kitchen.
I can easily say that Sanmith is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Besant...

Dropped in here while returning from my hometown for a late dinner. It was almost closing time. Though there were many items that were sold out, they were very accommodating to whatever we ordered.
Their menu is straightforward and covers almost everything a typical vegetarian would wish to eat.
Our orders consisted of Chilly Paneer, Rotis, garlic naan, paneer milagu curry, mushroom kizhi parotta and mushroom salt & pepper.
It’s run by a family is what understand and that shows so much positivity in their service as well as food.
Everything we ordered were delicious. Absolutely no complaints. Our personal favourite was the paneer milagu curry and chilly paneer. Rotis were soft. All the dishes are made to order thus there’s no compromise in quality and taste.
Overall, it was such a good meal to end the day. We paid around 980 bucks and it’s total...
