I would have been much happier to leave a better review. It’s not bad, but still need to work on some basics… We ordered beef carpaccio, Vitello tonnato , pizza burrata extra speck and a montepulciano bottle of wine.
The service was quick and friendly. Our waiter gave us some advices and made the wine service properly. 2 thumbs up for previously keeping the wine chilled.
We received the pizza before the appetizers wich followed 2 minutes later. Confused we sent back the pizza as the small table wouldn’t accommodate the 3 dishes. Both of the 2 appetizers (vitello and carpaccio) wasn’t seasoned at all.
Vitello; very nice and sufficiently thick slices of veal. The sauce had a very smooth texture, we were surprised to identify a tahini base in it instead of mayonnaise. But you know what? It was pretty good even unusual in this receipe. Too much amount of tonnato though and missing acidity in it. Some parmesan shaved and aragula would have been welcomed. And again no seasoning.
Beef carpaccio; very nice choice of meat. Lean part (probably filet) but bland, so bland….. Missing acidity and seasoning. Please add salt and pepper to your prep. True it’s always easier to correct a seasoning with plus than less, but in this particular case, I mean it’s dying of a minimum.
Pizza; what a nice dough! Just perfect! Tasty, nice cornicione, we’ll cooked, great size. The tomato sauce was a bit acidic but loved it! Here it is; the burrata is not an Italian one as you expect when you order it. It’s apparently home made and filled with…… mascarpone!!!! What a disappointment, first being misled about he type of cheese and then the taste of it. It’s so heavy.
Please when you built your menu, let people know the real thing. Don’t say it’s pancetta when its bacon, don’t say it’s maple syrup when it’s palm syrup…. You know what I mean? Don’t say it’s a burrata when it’s not. Let’s say; homemade cheese « burrata » style. I will then questioned your waiter and then will make another choice. It’s frustrating for the customers and we felt fooled.
Another good thing, wine list has a affordable price and the decor is beautiful.
We spent 992,000IDR It’s quite a big amount, it’s a treat If these things would have been done right it would have worth it Unfortunately for us it did not
Really hope the message will get through in a good way
PS. We told our disappointment to a lady in charge this night and she has been very nice and listened to our...
Read moreAbsolutely extraordinary! I first want to give thanks to Dekwi for responding so quickly to my WhatsApp message. Upon messaging I was informed that the reservations were completely full until 9:30 PM, so I replied that we would choose a different restaurant because that was too late for us. I replied also that it was my girlfriend’s birthday and Dekwi immediately responded that she would put us on the waiting list at 7 PM, and guaranteed is a table around 7:30pm. She was incredibly helpful and understanding. We arrived shortly after 7:00 and had trouble trying to find a parking spot, but we were quickly offered vale parking for our scooter. Within minutes of arrival we were escorted to our upstairs table and quickly greeted by the happy staff. I have to say I was very impressed with the quick and friendly service that we were offered considering how incredibly busy this place was. Next I will say the service was very very good, and the food was absolutely incredible! My girlfriends drink was served very quickly, and the appetizer was delivered shortly after. We ordered the calamari, which I have to say was definitely the best calamari I’ve ever had in Bali. The pizza that we ordered was truly an Italian style pizza with a thin and perfect crust with absolutely delicious toppings! By far and above the most amazing and best pizza I have had here in Bali! The manager was incredibly friendly, and I asked him if they did anything for birthdays. He told me that they offered two dessert options, and I chose the tiramisu... Ohhh my god!! I have eaten at many restaurants in my life and had many different desserts, that was by far the best tiramisu I have ever tasted! In the four years that I have lived in Bali, I have to say this restaurant is my absolute number one favorite for the service, the food, and an all-around great experience. If you have not tried this restaurant yet, I highly recommend that you go and experience the incredible food they have to offer along with incredible service. I do however highly recommend that you make a reservation one day in advance because this place is very very busy, and after being there last night I see why they are completely full to capacity every day of the week. Thank you so much L’Osteria staff for an absolutely wonderful experience! You are my number one favorite restaurant in...
Read moreLet's put it this way...I ate there 7 times in 3.5 days. Yes, it is that good! Had dinner one night be myself , and was so happy I (and my sister) went back for lunch (pizza/appetizers) and dinner for the next three days. I had the burratta app, the Arancini (multiple times), all three carpaccios (the octopus three times), the Caprese salad, the mussels and clams, the gnocchi, three pizzas, the Caccio e pepe, the duck ragu with Tagliatelle, the duck & chicken Bolognese with Paparedelle (a special one night), the pasta Puttanesca (another nightly special) and bottle after bottle of the homemade Arancello (like Limoncello, but orange flavored. And only $6 US per BOTTLE). Homemade sourdough bread was awesome. Neopolitan pizzas cooked to perfection in a very hot brick oven. Four kinds of homemade liqueurs (Arancello, Limoncello, coffee/tiramisu, and almond) were all exceptional. Everything was basically perfect, every time. And the service was excellent (thank you Wira and all your wonderful staff). I was so impressed the first night that I blurted out to my waitress "I think I love you!" It really was THAT good. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food, the exceptional service, and the atmosphere. I was in Venice a few weeks prior, and in Rome two years ago and this place would stand out even in those places. This is authentic Italian cuisine at its best, IMHO. If you get the chance, GO. You can thank me later. Note: reservations are recommended for dinner. I was there in the slow season and they were still full every night, even mid-week. Upstairs is very nice, but there's not a bad seat in...
