Heard good things about Doeun Menteng so off we went before closing 2024. Most Jakarta residents have left for holidays so it was easy to get a table. We made reservations but plenty were available while we're there.
Ordered their signature woodae galbi and samgyeupsal, and before we could even get comfortable the yummy banchan dishes were served, almost immediately followed by complimentary ramyeon with meat pieces from the woodae galbi. The single portion ramyeon was also divided into 2 bowls without us asking for it, kudos to the serving team on that special touch. Ramyeon was tasty & flavourful, pleased to inform it's much nicer than their instant cousins š
But the star of the meal definitely was the woodae galbi. Each beef slices was juicy & tender, perfectly grilled over charcoal at our table as per our request for a more smokey, authentic experience. Samgyeupsal was delicious too with the right balance of meat & fat. We enjoyed both meat well, complimented by wasabi and simple-yet-decadent banchan dishes.
Sadly by the time we consumed everything we couldn't fit in desserts though their bingsu was calling our names. Perhaps next time as we'll definitely be back when in the mood for some fine...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRestaurant looks good, design wise, I love it We ordered the woodae galbi and the ramyeon, chicken, wooseol steak, and dry aged pork belly (yum). Banchan were also very good! However, I feel that they couldāve elaborate more on details and info on the meat weāre going to have. Afterall, isnt that the elevated service on this type of restaurant? Well anyways, its a shame the services are def not on par as the food.
service feels like in dire need of improvement. Most were just standing there looking confused. When I asked for things (whether help or explanation on the menu), they have to go look for other ppl to be able to explain. And since it wasnt busy, most eyes on us (some staff were looking intently, made us feel uncomfortable. Someone should tell them its rude to look at people that way - especially your customer). Maybe because its brand new? But for the money weāre spending, I feel like they should know or at least trained on what to and what not to do (or stare, on this matter).
Overall its still a good experience but iād probably wait for a bit before I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNOT WORTH THE VISIT. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but both the taste of the food and the service are extremely disappointing.
I ordered Sundubu Jjigae, and the meat smelled awfulāit completely killed my appetite. I called the waiter to complain, and he replaced the dish. When he delivered the new Jjigae, he said, āHopefully, this is more suitable to your taste,ā as if the problem were with my taste buds, not their kitchen.. šš The meat still smelled bad though even after they replaced the Jjigae, so I decided to change my order. The (I assume) manager finally came and apologized.
They apologized profusely, but I still paid full price for everything I ordered (except the Jjigae). Even considering the service, for a restaurant where you spend at least 500k per person, there are countless other places with better customer service and complaint handling.
Overall, I wonāt be coming back for the food, the service, or the price. Nothing here adds up. The taste is lacking, the service is lacking, and the prices are outrageous for...
