Nestled within the bustling Sarinah department store in Central Jakarta, Mr. Roastman emerges as a haven of culinary delight, beckoning with its promise of delectable halal cuisine and a warm, inviting ambiance. My recent weekend visit to this casual bistro left me thoroughly impressed, satiated not only by the tantalizing flavors that danced across my palate but also by the restaurant's impeccable service and cozy atmosphere.
From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped by a sense of tranquility, a welcome respite from the clamor of the surrounding cityscape. The interior, adorned with soothing shades of blue and bathed in the gentle glow of warm lighting, exuded a comforting elegance that instantly set me at ease. The attentive staff greeted me with genuine smiles and a willingness to assist, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.
My culinary adventure began with the Smoked Beef Brisket, a dish that epitomized the restaurant's dedication to slow-cooked perfection. The tender beef, smoked for 18-24 hours, yielded to the slightest touch, releasing an explosion of rich, savory flavors that were expertly complemented by the accompanying signature sauce and a medley of refreshing garnishes.
For my main course, I opted for the Roasted Duck Curry, a testament to the restaurant's culinary prowess. The succulent duck, roasted to golden perfection, retained its moistness and complemented the aromatic red curry broth, infused with a symphony of spices that danced harmoniously on my tongue. Each bite was a journey of flavors, a testament to the chef's mastery of Indonesian cuisine.
As I savored the final morsels of my meal, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over me. Mr. Roastman had not merely satisfied my hunger; it had transported me on a culinary expedition, leaving me with a newfound appreciation for Indonesian gastronomy. The restaurant's unwavering commitment to quality, coupled with its warm and welcoming ambiance, has undoubtedly earned it a place among Jakarta's culinary gems. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Roastman as an exceptional dining destination, one that promises to tantalize your taste buds and leave you...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Mr. Roastman - Sarinah, and I must say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. From start to finish, the service was abysmal, leaving me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated.
Firstly, we were only passing the restaurant, when the salesman approached us. We were unsure and not quite interested but he kept asking for us to dine in. He even gave us a discount. He was quite welcoming and friendly but we feel a bit forced I suppose.
We only ordered some beverages and snacks because as I was saying, not interested. Once ordered, the server kept insisting to keep the menu on our table. Even though we’re done ordering. She even gave us a few more. We feel unpleasant at that moment. It seemed like the staff still want us to order more.
The wait for our food was excruciatingly long. We watched as other tables who arrived after us were served their meals promptly, while we were left wondering what was taking so long. The lack of communication from the staff regarding the delay only added to our frustration.
When our drinks eventually arrived, it was a major letdown. The visuals are different from the menu and the taste was bland. The tea was flavorless and they didn’t even give us the sugar until we ask for it. The discount wasn’t even good. It was an...
Read moreI've tried Mr Roastman before in their other branch in Mbloc space and I was satisfied with their food. So I was excited to try their branch in Sarinah which is so much bigger and looks so nice. The wonderful view overlooking thamrin street, very spacious dining area, comfortable seating.
We ordered Nasi Goreng asap and Roasted chicken. The nasi goreng asap tasted different from the one I ever tried in Mbloc, this one is too sweet and no 'wok hei' taste. The roasted chicken is good though, especially the pesto sauce.
The service on the other hand is very bad. We came before 11am, we were the only guest. The workers are many but none paying attention, they were busy chitchating, some are still busy putting their uniform in thr counter area, brushing their hair, etc. Even the manager was there but he wasn't paying any attention also. I ordered tea and get a tea cup with lipstick stain, that was so visible, even to make sure I tried to remove it with my hand and the stain can go away easily (it means they didn't properly wash the cup). I hope they can improve their service. Too bad a restaurant that looks this cool with so many interesting menu but...
