Ishigamaya Plaza Indonesia Central Jakarta July 2019
Double Hamburg Special Set for 188 K IDR++
The set comes with a good portion of egg and corn soup, a small side of salad, your choice of rice or bread, and one drink. The beverage selection is quite varied and the hot tea options allows for hot water refills. So naturally i chose the peppermint and i have to say i quite enjoyed the whole presentation as the tea set does feel quite fancy and they clearly used proper tea.
The same can be said about the soup which was served just right and tastes fresh enough I'm quite sure it isn't made from instant packages. The rice is also quite well made and clearly well sourced, however the fact that the bread was also quite well made and is served with a good portion of whipped butter really kind of swayed me to say that - even though i am not a fan of bread - one should probably opt for the bread just to get that butter hahah.
Subsequently, the hamburg itself is actually quite good, cooked just right and clearly made of good quality meat. As always i would always prefer more sear, but i guess they wanted to err towards the juicier, more tender side. The choice of sauce was kinda meh - i went for the cheese cream and i immediately regretted it when i tasted my friend's herb garlic chef special sauce. It's not that the sauce is that great, mind you, but it's definitely better than the cheese cream - although i will probably try their original soy based sauce if i ever do come back.
That being said, the salad is also quite okay - it was quite fresh and the soy based vinaigrette is quite enjoyable. Sadly the portion really is small (i would prefer more of the salad even if it meant less soup) and the fried shallots tasted like they were store bought rather than freshly made. As for the side of corn, string beans, and spaghetti, the corn was good, the beans were okay, and the spaghetti was also just there for the hamburg to sit on i guess heh.
All in all, it is quite filling and is quite worth the asking price if you like to sit in a modern restaurant setting. However, it is quite pricey and i guess i wouldn't have even tried it if it wasn't for...
Read moreFood is good. However, the waitress services is very...very poor seems like lack of training. I was here on 2Aug and these are my 2 bad experiences that I encountered :
In conclusion, for a restaurant biz who highly needs customers to come as often as they can, pls change to be more humble, be more informative in sharing your menu and pls be honest. Don’t talk back to customers when how their feelings should be your number one priority. If Ishigamaya doesn’t need customers than just get lost...We are not happy coming here to eat anyway if it is not a request from our children. It’s weekend yooo...we need some alcohol drinks too to chill and this place doesn’t serve since their opening on 15Feb19. Why I remember their opening date...The lady who pick up my phone was explaining to me like telling me hopefully there is a change in the new law. Anyhow....hope all these information is useful for your planned visit. Have a great...
Read moreThe waiter needs more training on product knowledge (doesnt know about the side dish for curry menu), manner (arguing that there was no side dish for curry menu - until I showed him the menu which said "side dish" then he checked with whoever in the kitchen/bar then came back with the answer "supposed to be rattatouile but out of stock so we have carrots and purple cabbage instead") and memorisation (forgot our request for additional spoon since he took the original back with our empty soup bowl). Other than that he was quite friendly.
The food was not so bad and the portions were sizable. We ordered the original and the omu rice curry. They came with sides of salad - quite good and soup - very watery with a few bits of corns and a piece of white bread dunk inside but we finished it anyway since we were quite hungry. No to forget the side dish of pickled carrots and purple cabbage.
We also ordered a caesar salad. Next time we will forgo the salad.
I do remember somebody said something about 2 pieces of carrots and 2 strings of green beans - I guess still consistent - the original came with exactly those 😆
Atmosphere? We came around 3 pm so only a few tables occupied. Celine Dion was singing in the background - quite sad - I think theme song from Beauty and the Beast. Maybe it was a shift change - quite a few waitresses went back and forth to the back/side door. I guess it would be livelier during dinner time.
Overall experience - ok lah - that omu rice was a saving grace. Will come back if it is convenient and when am craving some japanese western style cooking. The menu offered other interesting combination - maybe worth to do...
