Sudestada is an Argetinian and Latin grill, bar, and cafe at the same place. The place is located in the corner part of a residential area in Menteng where the street parking is available along this not too wide street. They have both of the indoor and outdoor area. The indoor area is so light with the tall and big transparent windows that make the natural light "enters" this indoor area. There is also second floor with few tables. It's so beautiful to capture the interior of the first floor from the second floor 🙂
The chef here is a native Argetinian, so no wonder that we could enjoy the authentic and delicious Argetinian foods here. Sudestada serves variant of pizza, empanadas, appetizers, sausages, sandwiches and wraps, rice and pasta, steak, desserts, also alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The foods are suitable for sharing.
Here are what we tried :
Hand-Cut Beef Empanadas (IDR 50,000) The deep fried empanadas that similar with Singaporean curry puff filled with abundant of hand-cut beef with crunchy texture. It is served with the thin tomato sauce. A recommended snack and starter!
Matambre (IDR 190,000) Sudestada's signature dish as the part of appetizer. Since this is a meat dish, for me it's more like a main dish rather than an appetizer 😂 This is a grilled rose meat where the thin layer of meat is put between the ribs and skin, served with the olive oil. Somehow the tender texture is more like chicken rather than beef.
Fish & Chips (IDR 90,000) Well, this could be one of the non Argetinian dish that we had, but since we saw on the social media that the portion is big with interesting photo, so we decided to have this one 🤣 And yes, the boneless deep fried fish comes up with big size, served with the French fries, salad, and pink tartar sauce.
Flan De Caramelo (IDR 40,000) Flan is a Spanish caramel custard pudding. It is served with dulce de leche separately. Finally, I could try dulce de leche that is an Argetinian caramel. I love both of the flan and dulce de leche with less sweet taste rather than the usual caramel.
Gunung Halu in Kalita Wave (IDR 35,000) Again, this is a non Argetinian menu that I had. I really need more caffeine that day, pure black coffee precisely. That's why, I was so excited to find that Sudestada also serves manual brew with variant of single origin that we could choose. I chose Gunung Halu from West Java with medium body and acidity with kalita wave method. The waitress will brew the coffee directly on our table.
Overall, it was a good Argentinian dining experience with a nice place, tasty foods, and friendly service as well. I will be back for sure to try another foods and drinks here....

🥓Slide 1 - Matambre - 190k🥓 Grilled rose meat that just level up your appetite with their play on texture. Crunchy outside, soft and juicy on the inside.
🥩Slide 2 - Lomo - 540k🍖 200g Tenderloin served with Potato Gratin and a truffle sauce. Was supposed to be Medium but they served it in Medium Rare, which actually 🧔🏽♂️’s preference. 👩🏼 might disagree.
🍖Slide 3 - Bife de Chorizo - 580k) 300gr striploin cuts served with a charcoal grill, accompanied with a generous bowl of french fries and egg. We asked for Medium Rare but instead it came already in Medium, so it cooked all the way to Medium Well throughout our lunchtime.
🧁Slide 4 - Churros con Dulce de Leche - 45k🧁 Love how they able to keep the balance of sweetness as the cinnamon sugar is not overpowering. Caramel dip is a certified banger!
🍮Slide 5 - Flan de Caramelo - 40k🍮 An upgrade from the caramel pudding of an infamous Japanese AYCE meat joint. Custardy and sweet. Yum.
We were a bit disappointed because the staffs mixed up our meat doneness preference. It was vital on the Bife de Chorizo, as the meat was less juicy and soft for being overcooked but not to the level of being ruined.
Thankfully, the whole staff was helpful and collaborative—providing good dining service throughout our lunchtime there. Also a huge s/o to their Chimichurri sauce. Strong garlicky flavor with a hint of heat from the chili flakes.
Considering the price, it’s only fair that we demand more from their service and ingredients. Looking forward to having a second visit with the right meat doneness and quality to objectively evaluate the experience.

Read moreExcellent food and service throughout. I must start my review by giving some context: I made a reservation for 4 ppl on a Sunday night, which coincidentally falls on my dad's birthday. I asked the restaurant via WhatsApp if there were any complimentary dishes. They said, they'll update on us once we've arrived. About 30 minutes before the reservation, another relative of mine decided to join our dinner; so I had to ask if they could add another chair to accommodate us, and they replied to our request promptly saying no problem.
We arrived on time and the table was ready for us. We were given a nice table in the middle of the dining area, but the AC fan was too strong for my mom to handle. The manager quickly adjusted the AC. We're very thankful for that.
We ordered several items: Empanadas Platter, Matambre, Roasted Octopus, Arroz Caldoso, Spanish Pork Belly with Mashed Potatoes as a side dish. Once we were done ordering, the manager told us that they would take care of our special request.
First, they brought out cold cut platters with 6 different types of meat and breads. The manager told us it's on the house. We were thankful for the nice gesture. It's a nice appetizer menu with nice meat selections.
Next, other dishes came out one by one in a relatively short period of time. We really enjoyed the Empanadas (very generous fillings! My favorite would be the ham & cheese and spinach & ricotta), Matambre (juicy and flavorful cuts, tasty chimichurri sauce), Roasted Octopus (perfectly cooked!), and Pork Belly (crispy and thick cut) with mashed potatoes (cheesy, right texture, perfect seasoning). We finished all of them, cause they're so tasty.
Once we were done with our meal, suddenly the manager brought out a plate with 5 small dessert cups plus candles with 'Happy Birthday' written on the plate. We were pleasantly surprised. It was such a nice gesture to end a very memorable meal.
I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. Plus the decor, ambience and music were really cozy. I will come back to try out...
