We had a superb time at Darwins Restaurant. The atmosphere was classy, warm and inviting, our waiter was very attentive, the cocktails were delicious and generous, and the food was exceptionally good. Though we were a little worried the place would be a little too upscale for young kids - they surprised us with kids menus - including a very excellent kid’s steak that my son loved. And, shall we say, the whole vibe - from the decor to the service - was very lighthearted and humorous! You’ll see what I mean if you go.

Being fans of vegan food - even though we’re not totally vegan - we had to try the vegan steak. I honestly can say that this was one of the best vegan meals I’ve tried anywhere. I would rate it an absolute must visit for vegans staying in Dublin. The buffalo cauliflower was easily the tastiest of any I’ve tried as well.

On a final note, I noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. Before I could even approach the wait staff about a birthday dessert, they discreetly approached me and asked if the birthday person was vegan. The little surprise they had for them was really delightful and thoughtful - and funny!

When we return to Dublin, Darwins will definitely be on...

Let me tell you about Darwins. My boyfriend and I stayed in Dublin recently and wanted to go to a nice restaurant on our last night and Darwins was the absolute TOP choice. I looked through so many places and this was the one that stuck with me. The fact that everything is locally sourced is so amazing and such a great aspect. Our server Arthur was so nice and funny and has such a wonderful personality. We met the owner, Delores, and she is just the best. She cares so much about the restaurant and the customers that come in and it shows. The food was amazing and the look and feel of the restuarant are so calming and warm. The price point of the food was amazing and we loved every moment of our time at Darwins. I watched the video on their site about how they source their food and it made a huge difference upon choosing this place. 10/10...

We used to really enjoy our visits to Darwins prior to Covid. Their food was amazing, great atmosphere and lovely decor. However having visited recently for the first time since Covid and what a major disappointment we incurred. We were shown to our table which had no Table Cloth, No Place mats and Paper serviettes. It actually looked more like a Table in a Cafe rather than a Restaurant. Food was extremely disappointing for Prices Charged. Portions Small €13 for about 8 Chicken Wings,€7.50 for 6 minute slices of bread with pesto.. €40 for a dry Rib Eye Steak and €34 for overcooked Salmon and on top of that €5.75 per portion for vegetables. The Wine List was very disappointing and way way overpriced. Very sad and disappointed to see Darwins has lost its atmosphere and it's ambience and in particular its quality of food. Cafe Food and...

I will start off with my food. I ordered an 'Irish Wagyu Steak'. I had high expectations due to the high rating overall. However for the price compared to what was received I was underwhelmed. The steak on arrival looked amazing but after a few bites a sour taste appeared, I thought it was the sear but I later learned it was not. The server was nice and provided us with information about the courses on offer and the soup of the day. The food itself was not seasoned much and the mashed potato side had very little flavour, everything had to be mixed or dipped with the average red wine jus to finish. My wife's steak was very thin and she had many complaints about it and she was unable to finish. Later into the night I felt quite ill and had many issue. I contacted the restaurant but I did not get any reply.

The food was good. I really liked the butternut squash soup and the steak was to my liking. I also had the chocolate brownie dessert. A little rich for me, but it was nice nice the less. The female waiter was polite but my male waiter was doing nothing to dispell existing stereotypes of the ignorant, snotty French waiter. He consistently spoke to my partner without acknowledging my existence, to the point where I felt he was trolling me. When he did, he was short and sharp. I liked the environment and the depictions of Charles Darwin's work, particularly the canvases dotted around featuring the origin of man, but the waiters attitude provides only a negative distraction that spoiled the overall experience for me. I probably won't go back.

Either it was already late in the evening or the chef left his post or Darwin got eaten by an iguana... What ever the reason Darwin the restaurant did not live up to its name and famous naturalist . Three dishes Risotto Pasta with shrimp Toasted cheese bread The risotto was actually good and they should make that dish a main and not an appetizer.. The pasta was over cooked aka beyond al dente and the sauce lacked any chefs imagination. The shrimp, previously frozen did not help the cause. The cheese bread , while plenty missed the crunch . It really should be toasted longer and use a cheese that offers flavor... Service, we could feel they wanted us out and not in. Atmosphere has potential but need some work.
